  1. The WNBA had *16* teams at one point but had to fold a bunch of them. Usually when something grows (the NBA is at 30 teams currently), and sustains, that's a sign of financial health.
  2. So at an even earlier time in it's development, the NBA (year 25) generated roughly 25% more revenue than the WNBA (year 27).
  3. No they don't and no she doesn't. The league has lost upwards of $250m since 1997. They are paid what the revenue (and the patience of the NBA) can support.
  4. If it's rights fees then they didn't bail anybody out. Important context.
  5. Just correcting your false claims.
  6. That 800k check was likely the rights fees paid by their media partner to broadcast their games. Or in other words, business. The bottom line is that the NBA was a viable business in 1981 and has grown exponentially since then.
  7. Because of literally one white chick. It's mania. The WNBA Draft on Monday had a higher rating (2.45m) than any WNBA broadcast of *any* kind since 2000. So in 24 years, more people would rather watch Caitlin Clark get drafted than watch *any* actual WNBA game.
  8. It was the second-lowest attended non-COVID season in the history of the league.
  9. The attendance was higher 10 years ago (7,531) than it was last year (6,608). And it was higher 10 years before *that* (8,800). And so on.
  10. In the 1980-81 season, the NBA sold over 9 million tickets and averaged 9,602 per game. This year, they set records for both total tickets sold (22,538,518) and average attendance (18,324). NBA sets all-time records for attendance and sellouts in 2023-24 That's a more than 140% increase in total tickets sold and a 91% increase in average attendance. The WNBA, on the other hand, saw a 32% decline in average attendance from their first season (9,684) to last year (6,608).
  11. I don't know where you get your numbers but average regular season attendance in 2023 was 6,608. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women's_National_Basketball_Association#Attendance Attendance was lower 10 years ago than it is today. And it's definitely lower than it was when the league was founded. In fact, attendance has been going down for basically the entire history of the league.
  12. It's almost like it's two completely different sports. If you have 1-2 elite players in basketball you can beat anybody. There's no movie like Hoosiers for high school football. That's because it's extremely unlikely in a contact sport that requires 3-4x as many players on a roster a basketball. Also, can you tell me the status of St. Anthony's today?
  13. The Southern Section isn't the state. The fact that one team can play 4 games and their opponent can play 2 (and against such slapdicks) *is* the issue. What's more is that you're here bragging about how great it is. Laughable.
  14. As would about a thousand other schools. Best playing best!
  15. STA could've sent half their team and still reached the state bowl game in California. Only the best!
