  1. Yeah, man. That’s the goal. If you can get DLS to throw the ball 31 times, you’ve succeeded. Coincidentally, they held them to their lowest rushing total. Not a real head scratcher.
  2. I’m aware. But the dominant defense gave up 375 yards, including 7.6 yards per carry.
  3. Well, in addition to playing the best NorCal team (less significant recently, sure) Bosco is almost guaranteed to play Mater Dei two times and Mater Dei guaranteed to play Bosco twice. Along with MV or CC. Paired with their pre-league schedules, which regularly contain traditional national powers (Bosco played all 5 OOS one year), that raises a question — How good, exactly, does the league even need to be for them to have what’s considered a top SOS? Take the bottom four out and replace them with any teams you want. Compared to pretty much everyone else, their schedule is still really strong. I’ve asked a couple times who has tougher schedules. I’m not doubting they exist, but where are they?
  4. Posted by a former Notre Dame QB clearly jealous of Pyne’s superior arm talent.
  5. If they won by three touchdowns, he didn’t have to. But we can pretend he did.
  6. "Pyne started 10 games for Notre Dame this season, leading them to an 8-2 record and finishing No. 20 nationally in individual quarterback efficiency. He threw 22 touchdown passes and six interceptions, rushing for 108 yards and two more scores while completing 64.6% of his passes. He had a 4-1 record against top-25 teams, which was the most wins against top-25 competition at Notre Dame in the past decade." Not bad for a guy working with maybe the worst WR corp they've ever had. Like I said before... 😉
  7. Yeah me too. I had the first half under at 33.5.
  8. I guess that would mean my argument is that it hasn’t, wouldn’t it? In that case, I’m sure glad I brought all that stuff up.
  9. Bosco had more than 2x the yardage, more than 2x the points, and held them to over a yard less per carry on the ground. The STA game was a one-score game for 2.5 quarters, right up until the final four minutes. They even trailed very early. Against Bosco, DLS not only never led, they never had possession at a time when they could even possibly tie the game. Not once after their opening possession. One of those performances is objectively better. And it’s not unclear.
  10. Yup, and you're presenting a new set of arguments. There's another side to all those, too.
  11. Offense Passing DJ Uiagalalei -- 24/29 410 yards 4 TDs Zion Turner - 4/9 115 yards 2 TDs Rushing Bosco - 23 carries for 151 yards and 2 TDs, 6.6 YPC STA - 29 carries for 167 yards and 1 TD, 5.8 YPC Defense Passing SJB - 17/30 for 212 yards STA - 9/25 for 109 yards Rushing SJB - 33 carries for 200 yards, 6.1 YPC STA - 35 carries for 266 yards, 7.6 YPC Bosco never trailed and won by three touchdowns. After just 14 minutes of play, STA could no longer score points. And if you take away the 71 yard TD, the STA QB was 3 for 8 for 44 yards. Please tell me what I'm missing. How was STA's performance better?
  12. Correct. Edited. Did that extra field goal make a big difference in your argument, you think? Three points in the final 34 minutes of the game?
  13. I don't know the intimate details of their scheduling, but it takes two to tango, ya know?
  14. DLS vs STA was a 7 point game from start of the 2nd quarter until the the final few minutes, and STA was held out of the end zone for the final 34 minutes of the game. Bosco won by three touchdowns, STA won by ten points. The game is four quarters, not one. If you watched both games, I don't know how you could argue that SJB was clearly more impressive.
  15. I'm not hearing or claiming anything about SJB beating them last year. That would be dumb. Servite had their best team ever last year, and this year their worst. This is high school, and kids graduate. In 2019 SJB's schedule was inarguably tougher than STA's, and they had a common opponent that SJB handled more easily. All five of their pre-league opponents were OOS, and none were ranked outside the top 200. So I don't know how'd you'd justify STA being ranked higher, especially with a common opponent. And what about all the undefeated teams STA finished ahead of? Corona Del Mar was 16-0 in 2019. You don't think STA should be ranked behind them, do you?
  16. Nobody is saying "because computers said so." At least I haven't seen a single person say that here. Who did? I think the take you said was perfectly reasonable above is not only reasonable, but probably the most common. But again, what's a "top game"? If there were only three played by the whole league in 2017, there must be a pretty strict definition.
  17. Yup. That’s all anyone is left with. But if their schedules are underwhelming, whose isn’t?! They're being held to a much different standard.
  18. I’ll preface this by saying I’m speaking strictly about the Lad era. So as far as the DLS team you’re referring to… what DLS teams do you think were better? It’s a short list, I imagine.
  19. You’re inventing quotes that don’t exist and destroying arguments nobody is making.
  20. I’m not. You made a simple mistake and can’t admit it.
  21. Huh? The 2017 year I referenced — STA, St John’s, American Fork, Norco x2, Alemany x2, Mission Viejo x2, Bishop Amat, Bishop Gorman, St Mary’s, Cathedral, Vista Murieta, Los Al, CDM, Bergen Catholic… and those are just the teams you would know. So, of 30 games they get to choose to play, those were 17 of the opponents. There are rarely cream puffs on the schedules, and when it happens it’s due to scheduling issues/convenience in my experience. What on God’s green earth makes you think that’s indicative of padding a schedule?
  22. When you quote someone who says “the league” and respond with “they,” the only person who doesn’t think you’re talking about “the league” is you.
  23. I said upwards of, I didn’t get out a protractor. And two of the schools are, indeed, 80 miles apart. ThatsThat’s farther than Mater Dei is to Cathedral way down in San Diego.
