  1. Tough break for the Scientologists not getting to play in front of their SoCal fanbase.
  2. ESPNU was showing old McDonald's AA Game Dunk and Three-Point contests. 1995 was pretty loaded with Vince Carter winning the dunk contest over Paul Pierce and Garnett and Marbury sightings as well. This was also a mini-golden age for MA basketball, with Wayne Turner and Randell Jackson both playing in the game, following on Chris Herren's appearance the previous year.

  17. Malvern Prep from the Philly area just pulled out of the Alhambra tournament, where they were supposed to play Gonzaga in the first round. School has cancelled all travel. 20. I thought the reduction in divisions was contingent on the statewide tournament passing. Was hard to tell what changes were based on the statewide tournament and what changes were going to happen anyway. Got a link? The few competitive hockey teams in Central/Western Mass have been playing D1 with the EMass schools for years. Football can do the same. It is a small number of games and they are not on school nights. Springfield Central already schedules EMass teams in the regular season. It's absurd for schools like Central or St. John's to be playing for state championships against school
  21. Yeah, I see lots of worrying about certain aspects of the MaxPreps rating formula, but the big question is who will be in charge of confirming that all the scores are correct? Anyway, I still think the new format is good for football, since it reduces the number of divisions and ends the ridiculous situation of D1 and D2 being EMass only, but bad for other sports.
  22. The statewide tournament proposal passed by a 193-140 vote: https://www.gazettenet.com/MIAA-approves-move-to-statewide-tournament-for-2021-season-32985157
