noonereal
I just heard on the radio. The best way to get a kid to eat okra, kale, spinach... ect is to FORCE them to for 15 days. After 15 days, some will not mind it as much. Yes, that is the end result of this study. Some will eat it although, most begrudgingly. After 15 days of torment. The radio DJ suggested we all try this at home and get back to her with our results. she cautioned, it would take perseverance to accomplish this.... much unpleasantly. To the DJ's credit, she was skeptical about this. Who here thinks this a wise idea? just curious.

GloryDays
My younger son would junk punch me, then feed his dinner to the dog. The dog would then puke on the carpet. And I'd get in trouble for pouring my thrid drink on a Tuesday night. The end.

Do this day after day after day. In the meantime, you do the same with your plate and you eat yours. One day, maybe a week, maybe a month, maybe a year, they will start eating their greens. Geez, who's in charge of your household? Im not big into forcing kids into anything and I'd look for alternatives, but when it comes down to it I am in charge of my household, I don't let my kids run it. Gospeeder
Interesting take on my neighbor next door. She has three kids ranging in age from 6 to 13. During all of her pregnancies she focused on a diet mostly of organic vegetables, meat proteins and absolutely no sugar. All of her kids are oriented toward the same foods and while they don't hate sweets, they more often then not, reject them.

Damn my Mom, as I am oriented toward Hostess Donettes and 7-11 nachos.

noonereal
OK, no one got the answer exactly right, so it's up to me again. Kids are much more sensitive to bitter tastes than adults. It's a survival trait to reduce the consumption of possibly poisonous things. So, diluting the taste by frying with batter or other things helps. Also, salt may be avoided by adults for health reasons, but salt suppresses bitterness. So, I say, put a little of the disliked veggie on their plates, enjoy yours in front of them, tell them it's grown-up food, and if they don't eat it, so be it. Just no substituting junk. Also note that some of the flavor they find distasteful in cooked versions may not be present in the raw or vice versa - note the comment on raw vs. cooked spinach above.
