interesting

as teachers are paid through local property taxes i think the state should stay out of it

A rare political agreement

i am also swayed by the inappropriate jurisdictional oversight of this state legislator and find it ironic and hypocritical that he would try to limit hs coaches to 75% of a principal's salary when Saban earns 1000% of the Chancelir of U of Alabama (which is much more clearly within a state politicians purview)

Couple thoughts-

Alabama has an interesting (read: outdated/shitty) funding formula for K-12.  Seems that lot's of USD money flows through the state, so currently this law would be a state issue.

https://www.google.com/amp/www.al.com/articles/19618411/alabamas_school_finance_formul.amp

It also doesn't currently affect coaches who teach.

Booster club money has not yet been discussed it seems, so that option for schools with cash flow seems to be available.

Not a terrible idea, just seems like we're seeing a really rough draft in this article.

While this may be true, the good senator from Alabama has to think of his personal health and well being.

Cutting Saban's pay, and possibly opening the door for him to leave could set the entire state on fire.

GA HSFB coaches make a ton more....

Im not sure what 2016 was.... But Rush Propst was making shy of 150K.... last I checked and he is not the highest paid HSFB coach in GA.... not even in the top 4....

I know when Valdosta was looking for a Coach they had a lot of FL applicants....
