Its a joint effort, that was no surprise to residents. $2 million spent that the district didn't have to. It's clearly stated in the article.

"The coverage made it look like the whole thing is his," Akron Public Schools district spokesman Mark Williamson told O'Donnell. "He did a lot, but taxpayers should know it's their investment too."

No one is saying it’s not a cool thing, I believe GSB is merely pointing out the flaw in the “LBJ built a school” meme, which he’s helping perpetuate.

GSB is trying to discredit LeBron and the only reason LJ’s efforts are even on his radar is because he had negative comments about donald.  Otherwise, GSB would not have stated this:  “He's not as noble as originally thought.”

No one involved in this joint effort was duped by who was doing what.  GSB and others, if they are genuine, need to focus on the benefit to the kids and nothing else.

The statement from the Akron School district seems to contradict you, as well as other locally published reports. 

Theres no shame in stating that LBJ helped build 20% of a school. It’s a cool thing either way, and I’ve seen few if  any people disputing that.

I merely find it interesting that this is the first that the Akron community is hearing of the funding discrepancy...despite your moderately uninformed assertions from 4 states away.

There is no funding discrepancy, lebron is funding $2 million and the district the rest.  That was my point, those behind the scenes know what was negotiated.

If the public didn’t know what their district was doing in opening up a public school, that’s on the DISTRICT and their lack of communication. Had nothing to do with lebron’s charity nor with GSBs comment

One can easily make the case that the people who will fund 80% of the project might feel a little duped. YMMV, I suppose.

I have yet to see any clarification from LBJ over the past months disputing the narrative that he’s building the school himself. I’m hopeful you won’t be silly enough to deny that this is the first story you’ve seen stating itherwise. 

Again, I won’t presume to speak for GSB, but it’s not much of a reach to conclude this is what he referred to with his admittedly caustic comment.

You are missing a critical piece that I have mentioned now THREE times.  Lebron is not the  spokesperson for the the district, especially for a district school.  It's the districts responsibility to communicate with the public on what THEY negotiated with Lebron. 

Are you now saying that in their negotiations they didn't know lebron was funding only a fraction of the costs?  If that's the case, then how did the school already open their doors?

the district is also not asking MORE money from the public for the school, it was funded from their current budget line, so how are they duped?  Do they seek community approval/disapproval for any other budget item in a course of a year?

I'm not giving GSB the benefit of the doubt, the only reason this has become an "issue" is because LJ had negative comments to say about trump, nothing else.  Now, the public is looking to discredit Lebrun.  Silly.

You are jumping on one side then another, you stated the community was duped, and weren't aware of the funding discrepancy. I pointed out that's on the district. Now the issue to you is the defacto credit for 100% funding, which has nothing to do with being duped nor creating a discrepancy.

You don't need to educate me on anything because I understand communication quite well, regardless.  The district had every right to educate the public on the ins and outs of this deal, they failed.  For anyone else not impacted by the deal, who cares.(those not in Akron)

He didnt offload anything, the agreement was made well last year and approved by the school board.  it's a public school, Lebron had no authority to do anything that the school district didn't sign off on.  This is silly.
