Bodysurf
I'm particularly excited about the CIF Southern section open division. It has three top-5 teams according to Maxpreps (Sierra canyon, Chino Hills and MD) and another top 10 team in Bishop Montgomery. Should be some good games. There are no easy wins for anybody in this division. The first round game between MD and Santa Monica Crossroads will be a good one. It will feature the sons of Shaq Oneil and Manute Bol going head to head. Let's hear about other states. I know that NJ and GA will have great state tournaments also since there is a number of high quality teams in each state. same for DC Metro area. It's no coincidence that the best areas for football are also the strongest in basketball.

Well, not entirely lol. Prep schools have entirely taken over FL basketball. School's like Montverde and IMG don't play in the playoffs. MA Fan
Went to see St. Benedict's and Montverde in the finals of a tournament in Hagerstown (MD) recently. St. Benedict's won 50-49 and there was an altercation between the coaches during the trophy presentation, causing the gym to be cleared and the all-tournament team ceremony to be cancelled. Good times. VA public school tournament kind of sucks now with the best teams being spread over too many classes. Westfield has already been eliminated so they won't be able to do the football/basketball double again. OTOH Wise who was the dominant public school football team in MD this year just moved to #1 in the Post's basketball rankings, which is a rare achievement for a public school.
