For the 2018 season we will begin rolling out our Tiers with in  Ascending order.

We will begin with Tier 6 on Friday Aug. 10.

Tier 6 - Aug 10

Tier 5 - Aug 18

Tier 4 - Aug 19

Tier 3 - Aug 25

Tier 2 - Aug 26

Tier 1 - Sept 1

If anyone wants to participate in the annual "Predict the Tiers" contest, the floor is open.  Simply correctly guess one team that will be on each Tier.

FIRST of ALL, we need to separate the RECRUITED vs the REAL HIGH SCHOOL teams!

*teams will not be considered to be in a Tier until they score a point ( if they have played a game).

Below is an explanation of the Methodolgy used to place the teams on various Tiers.  The Tier concept recognizes that W/L records are a function of quality of opponent, and as such, RELEVANCY of opponent MUST be factored in.  The Tiers recognizes that in some cases, a 10-0 team (ranked in Top 100 by some outlets) could get blown off the field by a 5-5 (unranked) team that played a tougher schedule.  This is why the Tiers was created.

*Not attempting to rank every team, only the ones we discuss on this site.

* The Tiers are fluid and subject to extreme fluctuations early in the year, leveling out as the year progresses.

*Tier placements consider a teams entire body of work, however are weighted heaviest on recent games and game weights decrease in significance in reverse order.  In other words, early road OOS losses to relevant teams can be overcome as the season progresses.

*Teams placed on the same Tier can compete with other same Tier teams and possibly win 2+ of 10.

*Basically there is a -10 point drop between tiers.  Could vary from a TD to 3 scores depending on the styles of teams playing.  This does not necessarily mean that there is a 30 point difference between Tier 1 and Tier 3, only that the chances of a Tier 3 team beating a Tier 1 team are exponentially less than the chances of a Tier 2 Team beating a Tier 1 team.

*The Tiers will ultimately be made up of (16) teams per Tier that would form competitive playoff brackets.

*Texas teams generally have not played enough OOS games to gauge properly #crapshoot.  There must be a daisy chain OOS connection for a reference point.  Teams with no OOS daisy chain connection may not be placed on a Tier.  (Texas exempt)

*Tiers are based on exhaustive research, Multiple games watched, and good gut feelings.

*This is a crowd sourced rating. All input will be considered and adjustments will be made as appropriate

Probably could sneak Jacksonville Trinity Christian in at tier 6. They seem to be holding their own against some decent teams and just beat Columbia by a point.

Yep. When was the last time DePaul won the BNU?  Or a relevant OOS game

Even LiberalDonaldTrump has to admit -- with the obligatory excuses, of course! -- that DP beat joes last year for the state championship.

DP hardly plays OOS games.  But then there are some schools that are famous for not winning OOS games...

That was true the week it was posted. BC is still third behind DPC and SPP as of now. And all of the Fab5 should be on the same Tier. Your choice!

This is stupid... DPC is not better than BC.

MATCHUPS. Cant get you to understand em.

DePaul lost to SJR... Who BC just beat.

Yeah they probably belong

My guess is the only reason Columbia is in and not trinity Christian is because of the rule he said about only ranking teams discussed on here by posters so in other words since I'm on here Columbia is included in the tiers but Trinity Christian has no representation on here

How can BC be #1 if SPP already throttled them 34-7?

And DPC (with its starting QB out) just beat SPP.

DPC

SPP

BC

SJR

DBP

Its very simple to see.

Also, note that DPC is already NPG3 Champ, and we already know that the other four teams will be in the semis of the NPG4 playoffs. What youre witnessing are preseason games in essence. The real season starts on 11/2. No future outcomes will change anything I just outlined. NJ is just going through the motions ;)

And BC beat SJR who beat DPC.

DPC struggled with Delbarton... BC has much better wins.

1. BC

2. SPP

3. SJR

4. DPC

5. DBP

BC beat SJR without JM or RJ.

Rankings dont mean shit in the end... It's all about matchups.

Yeah, and DePaul beat SPP who crushed BC.  And DePaul did it without their staring QB...

And BC beat SJR without their biggest threat also... Both RBs.

So how does one come to any other conclusion than its about the matchup and a definite ranking cant be established because it doesnt work that way.

DPC lost to SJR... You cant ignore that. And they struggled vs. Delbarton... They had a favorable matchup with SPP like SPP did with BC. Its the way it works.

Luckily the 2 play... So we'll see eh.

Besides... BC was NJs Preseason #1 and Noonereal said Preseason rankings dont change despite the actual games.
