Apparently anybody is a state power these days.  Team averaged 5 losses a season the past 10 years...But they're a Power lol.

Back on Topic...School District needs to resolve this issue fast. (Which apparently they are.)

They usually a solid duval team but aren't very big on state level

That's a example of duval media trying to make mountain out of a molehill

Pretty sad story actually.

Then we have guys on here beating up schools for scheduling teams like this and basically giving them much needed funds.

Seems like we should see things like this from time to time to help keep things in perspective.

Lowndes playing ribault would be a upgrade over half the teams they have played from FL 😂

However, maybe the teams Lowndes does play manage to pay their helmet bills in large part due to income from travelling to Lowndes.

Florida school boards obviously don't care a ton about their athletics teams. Kind of disappointing seeing how things are handled down there.

Could be lack of funds due to no state income tax or whatever. Idk.

Low attendance is a huge bite into the profits at most schools

Tons of schools in FL are just poor, that's why so many opt to travel to places where they can actually make money,  if they had to pay a large TX or GA school to travel most FL schools would have to take a loss for a home game

Another thing is that since FL became a huge tourism state a lot of people living in FL aren't born residents, some didn't move here until after they had already went through high school

Why does this matter?

When you aren't a alumni of a school you are less likely to want to put money into a program

Also means you have no personal attachment to a school

Yeah this is the exact reason why Bayside played Lowndes for 2 years. They got $25,000 to come up and take 2 ass whoopings but that 25K made a world of difference. I didn't know that until I spoke to the coach at Bayside. It funded New uniforms and helmets.

No joke. Maybe Lowndes can schedule Ribault next year and let Lincoln sit it out

This is true a lot of times. Sometimes it's as simple as a coaching connection between some coaches knowing each other and putting out calls for help financially.

Everything in this world isn't nor does it need to always be about competitiveness or rankings.

So you admit to Buying easy wins instead of playing home and home against the nations best

So, what are you saying... are you saying ISB taking a check is ok, now???

I know it was the Cali Horde argument, but hey it merits discussing.

I always thought ISB taking a check was ok. How else can a school team get started if no one helps them?

Idk anything more about Ribault than the posted article, but, I'm thinking, if your athletic dept. doesn't get enough funds from the school system, and they don't sell enough tickets to home games to remain operating in the black, then they need to schedule in ways that make them money to bridge the gap.

That being said, there has to be a team out there on the other end of the same spectrum with enough funds to pay them and help them bridge the gap.

In the end of ends, this stuff is about high school athletics where kids get taught the lessons in life that football and other sports can teach. It's not about some Jersey nerd fussing over every single game needing to be against IMG or that ilk.

Honestly, the money they got from Lowndes was about the only money they actually made a profit from.

A charter bus somewhere over night and hotels, food, souvenirs etc can get pricey even for only 30-40 people.

If someone is giving them $10K that is gone after the trip home.

And other games that they fly to they probably have to fund raise a little
