UConn Women

And few years ago uconn got lucky when Britney griner and Baylor got upset by Oklahoma? So uconn got a pass in finals.

But griner going 1 overall in the draft was a big mistake and said it at the time. Della Donne is more well rounded to me she is the female Larry bird. Griner's game is height dependent.

The good looking point guard from notre dame went 3 in that draft I think. Good draft class for the WNBA I guess. Della Donne just forced a trade out of chicago to D.C. To be closer to home.

Della Donne was probably not a "UConn" player anyway. Her Pro career is certainly disappointing with her family issues, Lyme disease and questionable hunger for the game. When she plays she's great with WHEN being the key word!

Much easier to do something like that in the women's game these days. There just isn't the same depth of elite level players and most of them go to UConn, who took the mantle from Pat Summitt and Tennessee. They used to get all that talent before Geno built up his recruiting empire.

This is actually not true at all, but what people assume. UConn does not get all the talent. This years team only goes 7 deep with 4 HS All Americans. Notre Dame has 8 and others schools like Baylor, Duke, Stanford has as many or more than UConn.

They have an amazing ability to get kids ranked 5-15 and then they coincidentally will end up being thought of as top 2 or 3!

If starting a team and had first pick I would take Della Donne. I think she will be better off in D.C.

Can't believe that there is this much knowledge on women's basketball here. That Cheryl Miller girl still playing, that's about where it ends for me.

I might be the only one but I hardly ever watch men's CBB anymore. I enjoy the old school way the UConn women play. By not being as athletic the passing, fundamentals and teamwork is so much better than the men.

If you watch them play you can't help admiring the way they play!

I'll watch a bit of a Stanford game every now and then. It is better fundamentally. But I just don't get into hoops until March Madness anyway.

If I'm not mistaken, I thought I heard they haven't lost back to back games in over 800 games. They have no rival, especially since Pat Summit is gone.

The American conference is terrible. If uconn was in the acc they prob wouldn't of reached 100. They only beat fsu by 2 points this season.

Why do people constantly try to find a way to knock a team/player etc down that has accomplished something very few in any sport have ever done?

It's a great accomplishment but the fact remains if uconn was in the acc they would have a loss this year.

A fact? UConn has beaten 11 of the current top 25 teams! They have beaten the 2 best teams in the ACC both on the road!

And yes they only beat FL ST by 2 pts on the road in the first game of the year, after losing the top 3 picks in last year's WNBA draft!

Yes it is true, on the whole. You're mentioning an isolated case where it might not be true.

For the most part, UConn recruits the deepest wealth of talent in the nation and almost always has THE best player in the game. And unlike the men's game, there isn't as much legit talent to go around.

That said, they've still accomplished something nobody else had done before them in the women's game.
