FIFY. You were close😉

1. Cali

2. Florida

3. Maryland/DC

4. Georgia

5. Jersey

1. Cali/TX in a tie (have to give both their due)

2. Georgia  (you could argue number 1 based on how small of a State it is - the population is less than 1/3.5 of Cali and 1/2.5 of TX ....that deserves respect

3. Crapshoot here between the others (Maryland, Jersey, Florida)

Any of the top teams from any of these States could always lose against the top few South FL /Miami Dade teams assuming these teams could manage special teams, turnovers, had decent coaching etc (but they don't of course).  I'm making the point that playing there you will come against more raw talent than anywhere else - period, and that is always dangerous

For years the 305 area code has been among the best in the country but as you pointed out ST's, Turnovers etc and coaching have been a problem. Does anyone know why that is so conistant?

NJ owns Ohio

I get your point here in that I assume you're referring to the w/l record of  OOS games (which I get is the focus of this board so I kept is as a factor as well but not the primary driver)  I'm also looking at State depth and the quality of players produced and by those measures Jersey isn't even in the top 5 and toward the bottom of the top 10

When you say "owns" I think the trap here is cherry picking random OOS games to gauge a State overall.  The problem with this is that Jersey always has a couple teams that can with play with anyone and then a huge dropoff from there.    Not to mention, I believe  many of the wins vs Ohio were those all world Bosco teams who completely dominated NJ and were a very poor representative of the State overall because they sucked up such a huge amount of the available talent (and had Toal as coach lol what a combo those teams were great)

Anyway not trying to argue brother I'm from Jersey and played BNU - just trying to be honest from my perspective which would be that Ohio is well ahead of Jersey in 1.) quality team depth at the HS level and 2) player output to college and the NFL.  Again, some might not care about those two issues though it's scary to think there are people who would only look at some random OOS games to rate a  State.  At that point, why not say Jersey > FL, or Bosco's program is better than STA because Bosco beat them twice.

Finally I would suggest doesn't even represent Jersey well being so many of the kids are from NY State.  I get this is due to geography, etc however it's something no other State has going on in the same manner.  NY State sucks in football but they have a lost a ton of HS talent to those BNU schools.  The BNU model brings in  about 70-80% of the top players in a huge densely populated area and leaving the rest of the State (and  Southern NY) week.

Real tough inner city area, kind of just goes that way.  Give a few of these teams a great coach like a Greg Toal and watch out.  Two similar area with incredible talent are Houston, TX  and New Orleans through Baton Rouge

Bergen beat St. Eds

Bosco beat st. Eds

Spp I believe beat iggys

I would have to go look at all the matchups. When you look at top teams from NJ and top teams fro. Ohio usually nj comes out on top.

All you have to go by is the OOS games as they gauge the teams in a not so great way as you csnt guarantee strength of team when you schedule the game.

What team did you play for?

Early 90's .....don't want to be descriptive with identity because I always worry about the possibly offending someone on the board.  Zeke Rogers (DeRosa was the  backup) was our QB with Eric Lane at TB.

No that's fine. Decade would have been fine lol

I pretty much offend people daily on here so dont worry about it lol

For elite Hsfb teams CURRENTLY, CA stands alone at top and MD/ DC is the fastest riser

For sheer size, scale, and consistency of good old fashioned hsfb with the hometown flavor, TX stands alone

for ridonculous athleticism, go to SoFL or LA

defensive front 7 — GA may be best bet

as a region, the southeast stands alone no matter how you slice it

one half of a small northeastern state has all of that regions power from a national perspective

Ohio is Ohio — still a top 5 state with a great playoff system to determine true champ

A bit but not much different than 10 or 20 years ago

depends how you prioritize criteria

The top 1% of Cali teams would demolish the the Top 1% of Texas  Hence why TeJas  is UnRanked

What's top 1%?

Top 5, top 10, top 20, or top 30? Top 3?   After MD, Centennial, and SJB, who does Cali really have?  DLS, with its stellar OOS record? Folsom? OL?, MV?, LBP?

In the top 10 vs top 10, Texas can hold their own against Cali.
