Avon, OH is the school Bryan Cox Jr. transferred from to STA when his dad took a Dolphins coaching gig I believe.   That's all I got, lol.   Interesting lower tier type contest.

I followed the process close this year and Avon was a team who was turning down good teams left and right to find the best team they can have the easiest chance of beating. The coach said  they won't be as good  as last year  and the organizer said they want to " start the season strong"

With the Disney event there are three types of teams that come.  Teams wanting a guarantee victory.  Teams wanting an even match up.  In teams of wanting to really challenge themselves

What about the 4th type...  team discount to Disney World and fill in the team we face, lol.

I don't know about a discount. It's about $1,000 per kid for the works.

The way the games work is Florida teams fill out applications with all the information about their team. Records, returning starters, etc. When a team from out of state commits to come to Disney a certain week, KSA gives them the stack of FL applications with the same week. The traveling teams contact the FL team they want to play and if the FL team accepts they make it happen. So if a team wants a guaranteed victory for example they would just keep contacting the absolute worst teams first until someone accepts.

This will be an interesting match-up.  I've always wanted to see what Merritt Island could do against an OOS team. They usually have a pretty decent defense but they are hard to gauge because they do lose games they aren't supposed to lose and make games with better competition who knows. I know they lost they're QB and some playmakers on defense but they do have 2 decent athletes still on the team

Merritt Island is a pretty place....

My cousin lives on the island but she isn't into sports enough to give me a rundown on what they have going on.

I figured Nolebull, 954gator would give us the low down, and then Keemd91 stepped up too. Good stuff. I don't suppose there will be much chance of getting to see the game streamed or t.v. though.

Mike Elder is a very good coach and they have been a decent team the last 3-4 years.

I think the scheduling has more to do with a program that has never travelled more than 30 miles.

they may be better than he is leading you to believe.

Interesting. Avon was decent last year. Went undefeated then lost in the first round of the D2 playoffs to Avon Lake (a team they beat in the regular season 31-7.)

Outside of the recent La Salle teams, D2 in Ohio generally isn't very good. Avon beat some of the crappy D1 teams by like 1 score, iirc.

They play in the Southwest conference along with Midview and Olmsted Falls.

Decent D2 teams.... definitely far from crappy. ?

Yea Midview is decent and so is Olmsted Falls.

I think the D1 team that I was thinking of, that Avon beat by a score was Strongsville.....whom sucked last year. The other D1's they beat were Berea-Midpark (whom sucked last year) and Lakewood(whom may be the worst D1 team.)
