Permian still struggles against DFW area schools.

Aledo is for real in 5A DII

Argyle can put up points with the best of them in 4A

Ryan is Denton area's only hope.

Longview has (and always will seemingly) issues defending the pass but their physical style of play will make them a threat any day of the week

Oklahoma's Top 5 is better overall that the Mansfield ISDs (though a couple more than held their own)

Midway is Midway

Newton has no chill

Chill looks dangerous at the moment

Some team is a sleeping giant in the San Antonio area...We just have no idea who.

LT runs Austin area.

Northshore has Houston area on notice.

That's all I can think of atm.

Does North Shore actually have a competent QB and offense now?

If so the only thing stopping them from going to state is themselves.

I remember watching the Westlake game. Their offense looked like some backyard football crap. It's a miracle they managed to win a state title like that.

Yes, north shore is solid. (Nice pass and run game)  although I’d consider them a run first team.  5**** RB Zach Evans is a load and a superstar, they have a few other RBs to share the duties that are pretty good too.

The QB was a freshman last yr thrown into the playoffs.  He’s matured nicely.  They’ll be a load for any team.  OL is massive and physical. Defense too.

In SA Judson is the big dog. They have some nice pieces returning and had a good dominating win Saturday night.

North Shore going to Katy and winning by two scores imo was the most impressive result. The Mustangs will be a tough out.

I watched that game, they could have won by more than that. They were pretty conservative and rested their RB for about half the game.   Could have very well been a 42-14 type of game.

In light of that info, guess I'm actually underrating them, if that's possible. I don't know how often teams do that at Katy.

Katy looked good, but I’m gonna wait and see how Katy responds this week with atascocita.  If they dominate then I’ll value the NS win more.

Makes sense. I do feel like — and I've said this before — that North Shore is one of those programs with a ridiculously high ceiling. They are always at least usually decent-to-good, but when they have all the pieces in place, like that 2003 team, they're flat nasty.

I started thinking about the OK and Mansfield series and it was a competitive series as 2 of the Mansfield losses were by less than a TD.  It was very close to being a 3-2 win for Mansfield.

But it got me to thinking, could east TX have done better?  With Longview, lufkin, Marshall, Carthage and newton?  Thoughts @DevilDog    @Texasball

I think with the athletes and more physical style of football they would.  I watched the BOB a few years back with Lufkin and Longview vs La. Best and they never embarrass themselves and Lufkin battled JC and WM two of the more physical La. Teams.  I think a better comparison would be how do you think Mansfield would do vs. that group? Marshall and LV next week and then they got Carthage.   Something in the water in Carthage.

I would have them lineup like this and I do belive bEast. Texas would take 2 - 3 of them.  Beast Texas over Mansfield all day.

Longview vs Broken Arrow

Lufkin vs. Jenks

Carthage vs. Union

Marshall vs. Bixbie

Newton vs. Sand Springs

Nothing about Allen?  Looked like the 900 lbs gorilla. And maybe better and deeper than ever.
