Georgia moving up weeks next year

Is it to my understanding that Georgia is moving their season up a week. The coach for Lee County told me that the weeks move up and since the Dr Phillips game was a one year deal, he needs a replacement, but for Labor Day weekend instead. Which was this past week.

I wonder how this affects the rest of the schedule. Unless they keep everything the same but move it up a week. If so they probably couldn't participate in the Postseason games.

Anyone from GA heard of this?

I know that a lot of coaches have wanted to move the season up a week because of the heat, but hadn't heard anything official about it being done or not.

Maybe they finally got it done.

I'm assuming that everything will remain the same in terms of how many weeks there are, just moved up a week.

The Championships are played December 7th-8th this year. Looking at the 2019 calendar it will just be the 13th-14th. That should be plenty of time to commit to a postseason game

Does this mean FL and GA will be on same weeks for regular season games?

It means their week 0 will be our week 1.

They wont be able to play Florida teams during our preseason week anymore

This also means we'll be starting the same time as CA...

Nothing official has been decided.

It is not a football thing.

They are talking about moving the school year up.

As it used to be that school did not start until after Labor Day and some are thinking that kids are forgetting too much with the later start date.

Ok, so Fabrizio is trippin' then.

Go 'head @Nolebull813

Find that dude a labor day weekend game whether he needs if for August or Sept. or not. xD

Move the season up a week because of the heat.

I guess because we cannot get enough heat, I mean what’s one more week, right?

p.s. HVAC sales are pretty good in the heat, amirite?

Well, the real question is why, if it's only being considered and not certain, would Fabrizio be looking for a replacement date later.

I guess that's for nolebull to find out and me not to worry about. xD

Given the recent weather trends in Georgia I dont think moving it up a week is gonna do or mean jack diddly shit...

Am I the only one who remembers the 95 degree Christmas we had in 2016...

And then the ensuing tornado outbreak a literal day after Christmas...

And then the Blizzards we had last year...

Man this is the south its either gonna be Hot,Humid and Deadly or Cold,Humid and Deadly...

Or sometimes both in the same day...

I say leave it as is... and play the sport...

Yeah, I think he meant move it back rather than up. I was just using the same wording as him.

I took what he was saying as instead of week 0 being like August 18th, that it would be the 25th. This is something that I know some coaches would like, in order to shorten the amount of summer weeks they play in.

To me, that one week doesn't make a huge difference either way as far as temperature goes.  It does however allow Georgia to have the big first opening weekend over the other states.

Whether that makes any difference or not.
