2018 NFL rosters by state

Good post.  GA is unbelievable to have 123 - you got something in the water there?

It's really once you hit GA down through FL - anyone playing ball in that area has seen it all what else can you say?   And how can FL have more than Cali with 1/2 the population and more than TX with 3/4 the population (though not as bad as Cali ....damn I never knew it was that wide of a gap in D1 and NFL output between them)

GA has more than double Jersey (my home) with equal population yet some on this board would tell you (and actually believe) Jersey has better football because one HS team beat another GTFO.   And I hate this dumb logic like " D1 or the NFL has nothing to do with HS".  Yes, I get that - but I'm more  interested in D1 and NFL output - not to mention it does hold relevance because so many high school "stars" really weren't that good / they just didnt see enough equal talent

I've always said that I think total population isn't the best picture.   I think the number of players participating in HS football gives a better view.   Basically X number of talent is spread out through Y number of teams.

Yeah i agree

A lot of people that live in FL are old and retired people who never played high school football in the state so it's misleading to look at population by itself

If you combined this list with the most Educated states list

NJ is top 5 overall The rest of those states drop because they live in a Dumb State (educationally speaking)

you are not too smart I see

First off, the real story here is FL.

Dodo, NJ's talent tend to congregate on a few teams in private school. Ga has that talent pretty much all spread out. As what we discuss here is high school team football at the VERY top there is little here to suggest GA is better than NJ in this realm.

BTW I have never seen any say that NJ has better high school football across the board, could you supply a link?

Thanks.

Strange you would react so serious with insults.   I'll just say I agree because you're either a female or some kind of nut.

And I wouldn't waste my time trying to track down links.  It's a well known thing on this board that certain NJ people have tried to glorify NJ from a football perspective relative to some OOS parochial success.  Of course, judging by your post I'd assume you're probably one of them so just go back through your own quotes.

Texas 175

Georgia: 123

Alabama: 60

Louisiana: 59

Pennsylvania: 59

New Jersey: 55

North Carolina: 55

Virginia: 47

Illinois: 46

Michigan: 43

South Carolina: 43

The deep Southeast (FL, GA, AL, SC) sure does produce an awful lot of football talent relative to their population.

Are you guys sure you're not using performance enhancing drugs, or drugs in general down there?

I kid, I kid. Lol.

You seem to take football much more seriously than we do here in the Midwest. Good job.

What stands out to me is exactly what I would expect, what a fraud TX is.

Given their population and the wild claims they make, how can they not be #1?

More qualified, quantified evidence that TX is just another state in spite of the hoopla their lummox  fans make.

That’s b/c you’re not too bright.  Texas has far greater participation b/c they don’t cut players so even unathletic kids like you make the team.

This article is dated but still holds true.

“Measured both by the overall number of players and also by the averge number of players per high school, Texas led the nation in football, with 165,359 student athletes playing football at 1,061 high schools—for an average of 156 football players per high school.

California and Arizona virtually tied for second. In California, 102,505 student athletes played football at 1,045 schools for an average of 98.09 football players per high school. In Arizona, 18,803 student athletes played at 192 high schools for an average of 97.9 per high school.

In New Jersey, where the Super Bowl is being played, 25,888 high school students played football at 346 schools in the 2012-2013 school year. That works out to about 75 per school.”

Sorry, this is false my newbie friend.

What is know is the GA and TX teams are grossly overvalued.

You want to see great high school football you head to south cal.

hope this helps!

so you are saying that even with all that participation in TX they still can't hold a candle to FL?

Then we agree.

TX has MORE not better.

From the guy that is befuddled and confused on if he believes or doesn’t believe in what the algorithmic rankings are telling him.    I see you are still lost my athletically challenged friend.  😂

No, that the high participation is fluff.  If Texas trimmed their rosters they’d still produce as many NFLers but with a smaller participation rate making the per Capita in line with the smaller states.

Texas has far more players per team than any other state.

Guys, let's change the format here to clean up all the confusion.

In stead of offering uneducated non- insightful opinions, submit questions and the site guru's, myself and the sage @LiberalDonaldTrump

will get back to you with the facts.

I expect @The Comish will be along soon to advise you that this is the direction the site would benefit most from. :)

I agree man.  In my prior posts I always have said " SoCal is probably has the most balanced HS football in the nation  (though I also have TX up there personally)  and more importantly I'm a big BNU fan (where I played)  and will put it against any HS conference in nation

In your post you were heavy on the insults when I'm thinking we're just having a casual (opinion based) discussions in here.  We prob agree on just about everything.  I wouldn't agree that GA & TX are overvalued .....they have some great teams just like Cali and NJ.   The games I've seen of TX teams were quality (so many great QB's and fluid offenses)  with balance (between coaching, discipline and talent)

I had to be hard on you.... The GA "issue" is close to my heart!

Trust me, TX and GA teams are overvalued.

This was always the case and got worse 10 years ago with a biased poll which was the only human top 100 we had.

I don my cape to correct the harm done is all.

(pay no attention to my insults, there are NEVER personal, it's just a tool in my toolbox)

OK, I get it, you are trolling.

OH takes all sport very seriously. It's part of the culture.

SC SUCKS in high school football and AL is not great.

I'd look to ask more questions and change your name if I were you.

And yet you can’t offer anything on why they are overvalued other than your OPINION.  You’re no different than human pollsters which you rant on.  😂
