Waiting for Texas poster to chime in with...

"yeah I watched the game, not impressed.  Texas probably has 16 programs that could beat both of those teams."

Ok.  why don't you get them on the schedule then. douche.

lol I don't think anyone would say that.  Anyone who watched that game and is honest is going to say MD is the top team we can get the opportunity to watch.  What they say about IMG - who cares because I dont think you can define them as a team.  They're some kind of weird monster from a lagoon that speaks 3 different languages at once

Hey honest question I have.  Can an MD level team beat a top D 111 school.  Look at it this way - they have multiple guys that will be playing big D1 next year.  However, I tend to think no because the difference between 17-18 compared to 21-22 is huge.  What say you

Agreed. This has been speculated for decades.  But the physical aspect you mentioned due to the age difference makes it a mute point

Didn't Santa Margarita get bombed on by a Utah team?

The only reason people even talk about this league is because the top two teams each have 20+ transfers. They are Area all star teams. This isn't real high school football or a reflection of California or West Coast strength. It is a collection of Area talent to 2 teams to try and recruit a title.

This is the equivalent of putting on a 12 inch strap on dildo and thinking you are a porn star

Leave it to 😆@nolebull13 to ignore the outcome of the biggest HS football match in the universe and instead point to a Utah game.

I guess if you have no pony to ride, you have to watch other states ponies on parade.  Sad

LOL they're nothing like "IMG West" .  Their players come from SoCal - sounds like major jealousy from the Serra coach.

The Trinity League is similar to if you made 6 parochs who went after kids from Dade, Broward, and West Palm counties.  Those 3 counties are half the population of LA and the OC yet that league would be untouchable (stll with no QB's and kickers or coaching so they'd probably go down to the Trinity League anyway lol)

Anyway - the bottom line here is that a team with SoCal kids beat a regional/national all star team.  Huge accomplishment by any measure.  The Serra coach is a tool to say that.  Now, if MD had zero local comp (ala Bosco in the Toal days) than he would have a point.  Far from the truth -  SoCal has plenty of depth and comp beyond MD

Dude I've always agreed with what you say.  We got into it only when I had asked who the best defense that MD faced last year was - it was only because I honestly didn't know.  I just started following this year (my son in 8th grade so I'm getting into it) and I went to Bergen Catholic who's defense is nothing compared to a high level defense.  I just wanted to catch tape of them against someone other than Bergen opposed to challenging their merit.  When I reread my post I did see how it could have been interpreted that way but it honestly wasn't what I was trying to do

Gotta agree.  The huge percentage of IMG guys are East Coast and FL is the highest repped state.

MD (while yes kinds from all over LA County and the OC) took on an east coast/ more importantly southeast  all star team and won

Most to be fair MD has a bunch of kids from the IE too 🤣

Through a weird circumstance I played 4 levels of college football — D2, NAIA, D3, and intramural

Md definitely capable of beating D3 teams, in fact I’d suggest they’d be a D3 national title contender

D2 and NAIA both higher level football that I think could handle any all star teams if 15-18 year old kids

the difference is scholarships — there’s not supposed to be any in D3 so effectively they’re all walk ones while both D2 and NAIA offer athletic scholarships that don’t need to needs justified

I knew this would happen if MD won...

Now the Californians have heads swollen to the size of Kanye West's Ego...

Those 2 RB's for IMG were real life cheat codes, never seen two backs that were just outright stronger and better than everybody on the field.

In the end MD has the edge on Bosco simply due to competition and actually having to play a full game. Plus no team in CA has monsters at  Oline, DLine and RB like IMG, so everybody they face from now on will seem small.

There is little doubt that IMG will roll their remaining opponents, but there's is substantial doubt if Mater Dei can even win their own league.

Not buying this.  When did MD go from being the son of OIAG to ISB West?

Not an east coast grudge match?

95% of the easy time zone guys here posted in favor of IMG to win (even though they picked Stache in the pickem)

Proving their hearts were on a different place than their heads

Had IMG won, we would be reading posts questioning MD #OIAG team, and saying MD didn’t play anyone I.e a Florida team

I followed the whole thread last night, and didn’t see anyone shilling for IMG, much less 90%.  Several guys commented on how big and how good they are, and opined that they might win the game, but I saw no one out-and-out say they hoped IMG would win because East Coast.  That’s just nonsense.

This is basically trying to recast the game as a geographical grudge match.  I call BS.  Ever since IMG came on the HS football scene, the overwhelming sentiment ( except for a few actual IMG fans), has been that they are bad for the sport, steal players, shouldn’t be competing with “real” high schools, etc.  What changed?

I don’t even want to get into who recruits better or more; that’s just a waste of time.

What is puzzling is why are Sandman Sammy and the rest of the West coast guys are trying to stir the pot by turning this into a holy war between the coasts?  Pun intended.

Is this perhaps some sort of West coast insecurity coming out of hiding?

Full disclosure: I picked MD in pick’em because I thought the game was a tossup and I wanted MD To win.

I have been waiting for years to see IMG legitimately get bumped off, as I believe have the majority of posters on the board, based in what I read.

So, to recap, unless you can show me actual proof of East coast badmouthing or rooting against MD I stand by my original post.  You’re just making shit up.

OH come on.  We weren't born yesterday.  Even the guy video posting the filming of the game via his TV set was openly rooting for IMG.

You guys were licking your chops to get a sucker punch on the Stache last night, and were denied.

Even @Gardensateballer is now tryna downplay the MD win, and gerrymander a way for SJC to win the MNC which should rightly reside out west again.
