About to watch it, anyone seen it?  Thoughts?

My wife and I watched it.  It's a coming of age movie with a young boy, soon to be drug dealer, growing up dealing with his homosexualilty.  I was not aware of the plot beforehand.  Not my type of movie, but that's me.

Overall though it was well written and acted.

Hacksaw ridge was my fav movie last year. Liked Fences, Mr Church, He'll or High Water,  and Star Wars. Arrival didn't keep my attention, I may have to give it another try. Quit watching after 30 mins. Lion was pretty good flick, had the wife crying. Didn't watch moonlight after seeing trailer.

Best movie I seen in 2017 is Split. It has some slow parts but worth the watch.

Started watching that one but didn't get to finish it. My nephew raves about it a co-worker raves about Hacksaw Ridge.  So I need to get them both in as well.  At least we can agree there were some very good movies over the last part of the year and early this year. I saw Get Out Sunday night.  That is a good one as well.

I thought Moonlight was deserving of Best Picture. Not just the acting but I thought it was also visually radiant with great sound editing.

i liked Manchester by the Sea, too, but overall I thought it was sort of a weak year. Some good projects still find their way to the screen but I think the medium is oversaturated with comic book movies, sequels and remakes. The worst part about a lot of that a lot of those types of movies will make huge $$$$ regardless of how bad they are. Suicide Squad was pure garbage and was still a top-10 grossing movie of 2016.

Thankfully, a story that is beautifully told with artful care like Moonlight can still be rewarded. But studios have less incentive than ever to take a chance on a story like that than they do on a 50th Marvel movie that they know will score huge bucks even if it is recycled gruel that for whatever reason people pay top dollar for.

OMFG

I am a social liberal but I am about homosexualed out, if you know what I mean.

I never watch movies anyway so avoiding this one will even be a challenge.

Still, enough already.

Saw the trailer of Get Out when we watched Split. Started laughing when they hit the deer because I thought of our resident deer hunter. My wife got made at me because she thought I was laughing about deer getting hit. ???.

I thought it was going to be based on Moonlight Graham. ;)
