DevilDog
Here are some update of Sports in my native State. In 2018 5A will be Divided into DI and DII like 4A and below for Football. The UIL announced Wednesday that a referendum ballot has passed to split Class 5A football teams into Division I and Division II before the season. The vote of superintendents passed 144 to 77 and will go into effect at 2018's realignment. There, schools will be split in Division I and Division II first, then assigned a district consisting of all teams in the same division. Four teams would still make the playoffs from each district and all would be in the same playoff bracket. The format is utilized in Class 4A and below. Currently, 5A schools have an enrollment between 1,100 and 2,149. If the split is made right down the middle, with an even number of schools in both divisions, 5A Division I would consist of schools that have an enrollment between 1,742 and 2,149, while Division II would consist of schools with an enrollment between 1,100 and 1,741. Other football news. Aledo for finishing No. 25 in the final 2016 MaxPreps Xcellent25 national poll, the Bearcats on Tuesday received a National Guard national ranking trophy during a presentation at halftime of the boys basketball game against Saginaw. The Bearcats football team finished 16-0 and won their sixth state championship in eight years, and seventh sinve 1998. Of more than 17,000 U.S. high schools that field varsity football teams, only 50 are recognized during a the 12th annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions. Last month, Aledo running back Jase McClellan was named the MaxPreps 2016 Freshman Football Player of the Year after rushing for 1,527 yards on 201 carries with 20 touchdowns. The reason I bring it up is because Paetow will take from two current KISD high schools. Morton Ranch and...Katy. School is supposed to take a large chunk out of both. Open enrollment for the new addition? For how long? Do families in the new school's zone have the choice whether to remain at their old school or are they forced into the new school that's zone now encompasses their home?
