States Trending down in 2018

With the 2018 season entering the final weeks, its appropriate to pontificate on the results this year.

Below are the states that have been disappointments as I see it.

1.  Utah - Headed by the collapse of Bingham, Utah has dropped off the radar and fielded no National teams in 2018

2. Arizona - Starting with the Chandler loss to a rebuilding Cen10 team, and then Centennial AZ not stepping up their schedule, Arizona has been disappointing.

3. Alabama - Hoover continuing to lose every relevant OOS game, and then dominat the in state teams, spells bad new for Alabama.  OOS teams get no street cred for beating Alabama teams

4.  Georgia - Due to extreme hyperbolic projections of greatness from teams such as Marietta, Rome, Grayson, and any other team that got into the National Top25 and then lost in OOS games, Georgia had a cringe worthy year.  Current #1 defacto team avoided relevant OOS games and is rewarded by a Top 10 ranking.  Laughable.

5. Texas - Since the narrow escape 3 years ago vs. DLS, and the OOS beatdowns of Aledo and C-Hill, the lone star state has retreated into its shell, and the quality of football at the top end is noticeably inferior to the emerging National powers.  Even more embarrassing is despite a good number of quality programs, the top teams schedule 3 to 4 Tiers below their skill level, resulting in the highest number of 63-14 mismatches in the Country.

5 Texas

Hard to "step up" your schedule when your district has travel restrictions and the other power programs in the state would rather dick around with Faith Lutheran and Helix than a quality in-state opponent.  Centennial was the only team in Arizona to carry their own weight in OOS play so try to defy your natural predisposition to be a jackass and find an opinion that isn't complete nonsense.

Alabama is not trending down, it';s has been habitually overrated.

Texas is on a 3 year downturn.

You left off NJ which has enjoyed a couple years of mediocrity at the top. (but the beat GA anyway)

and when it comes to GA, last year and this year they two are down, it's hardly just this year.

Georgia is down because Grayson lost to Bergen Catholic 4 months ago.

Makes sense. ANY team can beat any other team once early in season when 4 or more turnovers & a free TD is involved. Those are easily correctable mistakes and are the entire reason theres a regular reason prior to the playoffs.

NOR is gonna force anything he can to fit his agenda. Which is pretty clear since 99% of his posts always say the same thing just with a couple words flipped around.

Grayson also hasnt proven a thing, and NOR will tout NJs #1 team beating them as some awesome accomplishment.

There tends to be a belief that if the teams ranked highest in the Preseason in a state, dont pan out or arent as good as they were thought to be... Then that state is down.

Except GA has about 20-25 other teams it could send out against anyone outside of Top 5 teams and theyd be just fine. Theres only 2 other states with the depth of GA.

Sorry @ECHS05 you are propogating another myth.

Now that you’ve conceded the Ga Top 5 can’t compete vs multiple other states top 5, you are now defaulting to:

Ga depth has 20-25 other teams that could win a majority of games vs other states non Top 5.

Lol.  Your state drops off pretty fast after the Top 5.

FL and TX...

Problem with CA:

Same teams year in and year out.why?

Privates.

A few of the posters refuse to admit it but The privates do recruit/Offer financial assistance almost like a college cuz you know that's what colleges do...

The privates have an unfair advantage that the public's don't have...

And the CIF just basically doesn't give a damn....

While Calif very strong at the top, don't let that fool you about the other teams.

Most years since 2013 (last 5 years) Calif would have 4 teams that would arguably qualify for any National 16 team playoff.  No other state would have more.

The next 4 ranked Calif teams would get at least 2 teams to Ga. semi finals most of those years as well.  At least 2 of the 5 years, Calif teams would win the tournament
