You forgot this only applies to certain teams and certain states with certain bias and agendas...

If it was a FL,TX or GA team in this position Sammy would hit puberty twice and Pops head would bust with Confetti...

So you are inferring that USAT is the only poll that isn’t bias...

Don't Know how you got that out of my post...

As I think USAT is just as bad as CP or any other services you wanna name...

Keep in mind Rome is ranked over Colquitt at USAT...

That alone warrants my ire...

I know right

It's almost like the 41-18 loss didn't happen...

A similar situation occurred in 2010 between Grant Union and Folsom.

The Pacers were ranked in the top 20 Nationally (maybe even top 10, I think) and beat Folsom by 35 earlier in the season. Folsom flipped the script in the section final, largely due to injuries to key players such as Shaq Thompson.

I don't believe SJB has an injury excuse. But at least the loss was close and could have gone either way.

As I said in one of the other threads, I'm not sure I really know which team is better. I'd probably lean SJB though.

Article in today’s OC Register has feedback from Jeff Fisher and USAT about the latest rankings. Here is what USAT has to say for why MD was lowered in the rankings after beating #1 team. It sounds like the MD coaches having a great scheme to control the ball was held against them. That’s amazing and you can’t make this shit up! And in what twisted reality is Allen in the toughest conference? All USAT has to do is look at their own rankings to realize they are speaking out of their ass.

Mater Dei is third in the latest USA Today Super 25 national rankings, behind new No. 1 Allen of Texas (12-0) and No. 2 St. John Bosco, which was No. 1 before its loss Friday night.

David Scott, executive producer for USA Today’s high school coverage, said Allen hails from arguably the toughest conference in the nation. He also said the Braves’ convincing victory the first time against the Monarchs still holds weight.

“Bosco’s victory over MD in October by 23 points was a really big win,” he said.

And Mater Dei’s strategy to dominate time of possession Friday was another factor in the rankings.

“We just thought the style of play that MD had to employ in the championship game showed us that they didn’t feel they were the superior team and had to slow the game down and limit Bosco’s opportunities,” Scott said. “Really smart move and worked but showed us they didn’t want to line up mano a mano and let it rip. Yes, that is football too and you play the style you have to play to win but when you add up both games Bosco feels like the better all-around team at this time.”

LMAO

How dare MD make adjustments in an attempt to win a football game. What kind of gatekeeping BS is this guy on about? Apparently, wins only count if they come by a certain style of play? GTFO.

David Scott shouldn’t be allowed to give his opinion on HS football ever again after that quote.

What a total dipshit.

He never said the win didn't, or shouldn't, count. He said, correctly, that how a game is played usually reveals who the better team is.

Making adjustments to win a football game is done exactly for that purpose. To try to win. It isn't indicative of who's better, especially when those two teams already played and the other team dominated.

It sounds like neither of you actually watched the game. Assuming for a second that his logic is correct (hint: it isn't), MD won the game because they were able to pressure DJ mostly through adjustments in their defensive schemes by dialing up the pressure. In the first game, SJB's O-Line won that battle (by a lot) and  DJ had tons of time to pick apart the MD secondary. In this game, he didn't. That was the difference. SJB lost the time of possession battle because they couldn't sustain offensive drives (they only scored 1 offensive TD in their very first possession in the game with a short field). The SJB defense held MD to 18 and 17 points respectively in both games. Saying MD's win should count less because they were able to figure out a way to pressure DJ and neutralize SJB's offensive is the most asinine thing I've ever heard.

It may be true that SJB is the more talented team, but being more talented means nothing. All that matters is what happens on the field. MD won when it really mattered, so hats off to them. Ranking SJB ahead of MD because SJB's MOV was bigger in October than MD's MOV in December is just idiotic.
