RedZone
I'm starting to think SO after watching a lot of playoff and state championship games this year....OR, at least an elite ATH at QB.

I disagree. You need a solid QB surrounded by playmakers and a good defense. If you're lacking at certain positions then an elite QB is necessary.

Classic example is Northside WR if you watched the 6A game last night.

They have 45+ D1s......OL/DL/Skill Just saying I've seen some terrible QB play.....
TheHotisBlock
Nope, just look at DLS. That kid is an improvement but wouldn't sniff the field as a QB at most elite or even good HSFB programs.
HawgGoneIt
I think an elite qb is a very nice asset in high school. I'm with the others that it depends on how complete and solid your team is around the qb. You at least need a solid game manager that won't lose the game for you though. DLS_Spartan
Look at Folsom’s qb. Not elite and they’re doing fine.
Sammyswordsman
To be a #OIAG team you must have a 5* QB

I think the question was posed based on today's game, which is much different than in 2009-2011. Ok what considered elite?. Top 100 teams in America? If so langan qasnt elite and bergen was top 100 in the country.

Having a quarterback who is Div-1 material plus having natural leadership qualities are two variables that make being an elite program more likely. Not necessarily a 4* or 5 * player ( though thats a good start) but a damn good athlete whose presence elevates the performance of those around him.
