Texasball
Will this guy eventually go down as one of the great College Coaches of all time or will he just be another coach. The win vs Georgia got be thinking about all the nice wins his teams have had at both Houston and Texas. He is still pretty young coach and has not been HFC for that many years 2016 - beat #3 Louisville and Heisman winner Lamar Jackson 2016 - beat #3 Oklahoma 2015 beat #9 Florida State 2017 - Took over down UT team- played good enough to back bowl game and ended the season with bowl win over SEC Missouri 2018 - Beat ranked teams USC, OU, and #5 Georgia This guy is making believer out of me. He is really old school in some ways...He runs very physical practices and demands his players to be tough before anything else.

Consistency is a small issue though as they have won some big ones but at UT and UofH they lost some head scratchers as well. Him staying at UT for a while should help.

Agree - However, I don't believe he has had the talent that he will eventually have at UT. If they can beat what should be a good LSU team next year - I can see them making the playoffs.
WpialHSFB
Texas is a sleeping giant and Tom Herman will be the coach to turn on the alarm. Once the recruiting returns to where is should be, they will be a legit force. The key challenge will be dealing with an alumni base that likely isn't very patient and wields lots of influence. WpialHSFB
I'd also expect Matt Rhule to have Baylor in a very good place over the next few years as well.

This guy is really good coach...He too is trying to develop more physical brand of football and move away from the national perception that the Big 12 is all offense and no defense. I know this the Texas High School Coaches really like this guy!

But hes at a good spot at texas. Iconic program. Needs to win the big 12 though. Right now seems like its Oklahoma title to lose. Yes I know texas beat Oklahoma in the regular season but couldnt get it done at the big 12 championship. Now texas will beat their chest for beating Georgia who was a very good team this year. Maybe well see a regular season matchup between the schools.

A few years ago they weren’t even in the discussion as Big 12 contenders. They are getting better and improving as a program. UT is not a stepping stone to other programs. It’s a HC destination school just like a few others around the country. No need to go to the SEC.

If its anything less than 4 million a year hes probably underpaid. But to your comment about texas not being a stepping stone program I would agree with you more if this was texas of old. Yes its building back up but programs like texas and Miami and Notre dame and alabama and USC etc should never be bad and have to rebuild. It's a damn shame how bad Nebraska got. Another program who should never be bad. Iconic program in college football

Nick Saban was 7-6 in his first year Then 12-2 his 2nd year - Yet lost the sugar bowl to Utah Saban has only had 1 undefeated Alabama team - which was the year Colt McCoy got hurt in the BCS championship game Obviously this could be his 2nd in 12 seasons - including he has already won 5 national championship - Maybe his 6th this year. Saban is great coach and great recruiter - one without the other does not win championship like this.

But good for TAMU. I guess that's what lured jimbo there. Lots of money pouring into that program. Like I said since texas has the money and the iconic nature of their program they should never be bad.

Miami hasn't been really that good for several years, Alabama had several lean years including some losing records prior to Saban, USC didn't even make bowl game this year playing Pac 12 schedule, Nebraska they still are down, Florida State didn't make bowl this year, Tennessee should never really be this down either. There is more. The first step to greatness is to hire a great leader as HFC! I am hoping Tom Herman is that guy at Texas! I also like Jimbo at A&M - I pull for both of these programs

Unfortunately kids these days probably dont even remember when Miami Notre dame Nebraska etc were wrecking machines. I think jimbo turns around TAMU pretty quickly unfortunately hes playing in the same division as saban
