2019 BNU Super Conference Championship goes through Bergen Catholic

SJR 04

Bergen Catholic will be the team to beat in the BNU for at least the next three years. Does this mean they win three state chips? No! The BNU teams know one another so well that anything can happen.  Plus from a talent standpoint SPP isnt to far off next season. DePaul, PC, and Bosco bring back most of their teams, but none of them will be as loaded as BC. Hopefully Joe's stays in group 4. There is a small chance Joe's can and will be the surprise team in group 4 again next year. I really dont want to see them in group 3 anymore. As far as OOS play goes BC should be the flagship team next year to speak for New Jersey. Just my opinion based on the way things currently stand. Oh but some BIG changes are on the way... lol

Being a small school you always have to worry about being forced to go back to group 3 unlike the bigger privates. We usually don't know where we'll be placed until mid August. Always up in the air. Haven't heard anything this far.

Interesting take..I agree with you that our pipeline of young talent coupled with what we bring back from this years squad will make us formidable. I don't know what to make of DBP, bring back a lot but new QB and depth will be an issue..For BC the ??? is RB..now considering you have eluded to big changes coming multiple times I have a sneaky feeling BC is in the mix when it comes to these changes. SJR might take a minor step back but I think it is a 1 year rebuild and they will be back in the title mix.

RB will not be an issue for BC, Rakeem Ross and Ryan Butler will be solid behind that line. Bosco brings back a lot and always plays BC tough, but on paper BC is FAR better than Bosco. It's not about how many you return,  it's about the quality of what you return. BC brings back power 5 talent, while bosco doesnt have much of that. Look for changes to take place at Joe's. I think BC will still have the most talent with more than 20 that started or saw time last year and are or will be recruited to play at the FBS/FCS level.

I agree with your sentiment overall, that D front for BC will be stout with Grant,Booker and Malone..You said changes at Joe's?? You alluding to coaching changes??  Auggie  pulling a Nunz and going college? Just stirring the rumor mill!

Not if you look at the composition of future teams! Rational people can make honest prognostications.

Gotta always respect the defending champs so the road always goes thru them.

Now I do agree bc has a ton of talent coming back and from what someone posted the new RBs are legit player to replace McKenzie and johnson

I'm confused....bc did not win state last year....so doesnt the road run through montvale right now??

You can say that if you'd like, but last year Joe's had a different team than they'll have this season. So my opinion is based on who will be returning the best team NEXT season. Joe's will be good and has a great chance of making it back to the championship to see BC again. BC just has soooo much more ammunition than everyone else this year. I can tell you that Joe's will be reloading not rebuilding. Only team I'd blindly say is flat out better than Joe's on paper will be BC.

Whose got the better coach? On paper means one thing and yes you absolutely have to consider that but who makes the better ingame adjustments. Sjr made some sort of adjustment to beat up bc at metlife were bc did not make the necessary adjustments.

The same can be said for the 1st game. BC made a halftime adjustment that lead to Joe's being shut out in the 2nd half. It happens.  Imo joes was just a better team with better personnel than BC last season. If joes played their best and BC played their best, joes wins by 2 scores (last season). Next season BC will be the better team on paper.

Would be nice to see bosco get better. And what about spp? Seems like they get talked about the very least and usually full of athletes. They destroyed bc last year at caven point.

Good to see bc have success though after living in the shadow of bosco for those years bosco was dominating

SPP will be better as well. They have a lot of talent returning to go with young studs that will be stepping in for the graduating seniors. The consensus is that they will be much better in 2019 year. I'm just waiting to see how if Bullock is really an upgrade from Maynor.

I believe (said this during the season) that this incoming frosh class will be huge in determining the balance of power within the BNU for the next 5-8 years. If BC,SJR & SPP hoard up the great talent again then we "could" be talking about a tier 1 and tier 2 within the division. With PC arguably throwing in the towel and DBP having 2 weak freshmen teams in a row if these 3 or either one of them takes the next step word of mouth could set the table for a more powerful program to emerge.

Maynor was good and I knows hes going to navy good choice for him.

Have to wait and see to the summer for Bullock I guess.

Does spp lose their WR as well? I forget his name but didnt they have a really talented wr

Bosco seemed to have thrown in the towel when the new guy want to empathize academics over athletics.

Any school hs or college has to chose....academics or athletics you are not going to succeed at both

Disagree completely..DBP hasn't thrown in the towel on athletics, they are highly competitive in almost sport imaginable and their academics have gotten better not worse. BC hasn't stepped back academically at all and they would be out of business if they did. Contrary to popular belief most kids go to these schools because of academics not sports.

I'm talking success.....rings. at the end of the day it's about rings.

Notre dame and Stanford and duke have basically 0% chance of winning a ring. Too hard to get the kids necessary to win the rings.

From what I understand when bosco was winning they weren't bringing in the smartest of kids but pure athletes

So far I'm only familiar with Joe's incoming frosh class. Auggie believes it's the best one they've had since he's been at Joe's.  I assume BC is putting something nice together as well because they get kids who are willing to travel over a 100 miles to school. Spoke with a bunch of studs from central Jersey program. They all mentioned BC and Mater Dei as their potential destination.  I also know DePaul does a great job pulling in talent as well. I have great relationships with two of the powerhouse youth programs they get first choice from. Bosco has been keeping their moves close to the best so I have no information coming out of there.

BC is certainly not as hard to get into for a stud athlete as it was just 4yrs ago. I know kids that are there and wouldn't had stood a chance 4yrs ago.

Fair enough, I'm not naive enough to say they haven't loosened the requirements for some of the studs whether it be for football, wrestling or what have you but the overall rigorousness of the academic program has not been compromised.
