Would you consider NE the greatest NFL program of all time?

Good question.  Personally, I still think of the Cowboys being the greatest.  But the Pats do have a case.

NE's program really took off with the arrival of Belichick and Brady.  Before that they only had two Superbowl appearances, and lost both, I believe.

We'll see how the Pats do when Brady retires.  If they still are dominant then, then they would be considered the best program.

Yep and dont forget the steelers run from '75-'80.  They have 4 SB in that span.  6 total.

The Cowboys were always there, but hard to be considered the greatest for any era except the early 90’s.  The Pats have had 2 similar runs with a long period of excellence in between (including a 16-0 regular season).  My memory is long, but they are favorably compared to the 60’s Packers - just twice as long a run.  The Packers and Pats were not the most talented teams, but were relentless beyond belief - with likely the 2 greatest coaches of all time.

You're right.  Almost forgot about our arch nemesis.  They are 6-2 in Superbowls, while the Pats are 5-5.  The Cowboys are 5-3. But I still like the Cowboys cheerleaders the best. lol

Since the mid 70s the Steelers have had an incredible organization from top to bottom.  They have been especially good at getting the best players.  Wish the Browns would take notes.

Yep.  It’s too hard to look at the entire time of a franchise as they all have peaks and valleys, but during their runs is a good way of looking at it.

Like someone else stated the Pats are on the path to having two runs.

Yes.  What is it, 8 straight AFC championship appearances in a row?  And 5 Super Bowl appearances in the at time.  That's just insane.

The New England Patriots should be treated exactly how Barry Bonds gets treated. With an asterisk.

And you continue to demonstrate what a sour-grapes laden, clueless ass you are.

Anything you post should be treated with an asterisk, to indicate that it comes from someone without an objective bone in his body.

Not worth the effort.  Just say “ Here’s your sign”.

Steelers

Steelers have six from 2 different eras, so yeah.  But the Pats run since 2001 is the greatest all time.  And if they win their 6th in 2 weeks - they are the greatest franchise of the SB era, bar none.  11 SB appearances, 3 more than the Steelers.

The last 6 QBs to go into the HOF played a total of 76 years and went to 8 SB combined.  Brady has gone to 9 in 17 healthy seasons (out in the first quarter of the first game in 2008).

Big advantage that NE has had in Brady run, is that they play in arguably the worst division in NFL year after year. Their record is almost assured of being good enough to get home field 1rst round bye every season. They just need to win one home game in playoffs and then automatic AFC championship. I'm not saying they aren't great but they do have an advantage, similar to the Majic Johnson Laker eara, where the Lakers played in the weak ass Western conference , and almost guaranteed them an NBA finals appearance every season.

They have bad records because they each play NE twice a year.  NE’s record against their division is no better than against everyone else.  Have the Browns had a playoff game with Brady in the league - no.  Have the Bengals won a playoff games with Brady in the league - no.  Only the Ravens have been decent.  The Jets were in 2 AFC championship games.  Dolphins have made the playoffs 3 or 4 times.  And the Pats have owned the Steelers.

Here is another fact that is why I don't think Pats are greatest ever. Everyone of their super bowl wins could have gone either way. Hasn't everyone been decided by a field goal ? The Pats would have never been able to stand up to the great teams before the free agency enactment. Those power house Niners,  cowboys, Giants, 85 Bears, the 3 time Redskin SB winners would have taken apart Brady because those teams were complete. Great defenses and great offenses. Today, because of free agency, you have to choose which side of the ball you want to put your money on. There have been some great defenses like the Seahawks the year they won it, but they couldn't keep all their players due to free agency and they were never quite the same after that 1rst SB win demolition of Denver team. You could say that NE is the greatest of the free agency period, and that I would not argue with.

The rules are designed now to weaken great teams - you cannot keep your talent. The Pats of the last 18 years have 4 certain HOF players only - Brady, Gronk, Moss for 3 years and Vinatieri.  Not counting Seau or Revis.  Rules are designed for parity - and yet NE dominates

The AFC was horrible after the Raiders won in ‘83.  Did not win a SB again until Denver in ‘97.
