By the end of the year... meaning how they looked in the playoffs and how they progressed...

1. Edna Karr

2. Landry-Walker

3. Evangel Christian

4. John Curtis

5. Neville

not sure I'd totally agree, with you on the top 3 but if you're talking "progression" by the end of the year I'd include West Monroe as "4c".  Once they figured out how to use their skill players they were as good as Curtis or Neville...  btw, you won't have to guess as to who is better between West Monroe and Neville this year--it will be decided week 5  ¬¬

West Monroe has lacked skill players for several years now.....especially on defense in the secondary.

Landry-Walker looked like an NFL team compared to West Monroe.

Agreed,  but no one else looked any better against them.  I was just saying by the end of the year WM looked as good as Curtis or Neville

Had #5 beat #1 we would be talking about how #5 was the best team in the state...Especially how they decimated #3 early in the season (Before the changes..)

How one game can make a difference...

#4 lost to #3..but beat #2 early in the season...

#2 lost to #1 and #4 the 1st two weeks of the season...Then something just clicked...

Why are we talking Top 4

I am looking forward to Cajun's 2017 LA Preview where he rolls out the Top 35 one day at time from late July

I released them as they were released here......by NOLA.com (they do a Top 50)

35 is about right for La.....

2016 CA #35 Bakersfield (11-3)

2016 La #35 Ruston (8-3)

Would be a good game.

Ruston won a MNC in 1990. Bakersfield ever win one?

neutral field:

[2016] Bakersfield (CA) 35, [2016] Ruston (LA) 20

I don't disagree -- #50 CA team 2TD+ better than #50 Cajun team

btw, (where's OU112 when you need him), you're picking on the wrong CA team -- Bakersfield is the Valdosta or Massillon of CA -- Opening paragraph opines that BAK is top historical team except for DLS, which is most you could say for any team in same state

Btw, what's up with Rummel?  Not even in discussion for top teams in LA?  Not checking but seems they've been top 5 much more often than not lately

Sorry Reb...WM did nothing to belong in the Top 5... borderline Top 9-10.

Maybe 2017 playa!

I would still argue that point and certainly that they did "nothing" to belong top 5.  We're still talking about the end of the year, WM lost to Curtis (and Landry-Walker still not arguing that they belong ahead of WM) the 2nd game of the year and way before they figured out how to use their 2 quarterbacks.  I was at the game, there wasn't a whole lot of difference in the 2 teams even then...  did Curtis make it to the finals.  WM did enough to gain the # 2 seed in the 5A playoffs and still believe if they could have played Curtis again (and without the mistakes and bad calls of the first game) they could have won.  Look at what Curtis did toward the end of the year and what WM did once they "clicked."  Add in the fact that WM beat Neville (all-be-it 1/2 a game, believe me it still counts when WM/Neville suit up).

Again, not arguing 1 - 3, just saying WM was as good (or better) than Neville or Curtis...  we can agree to disagree on that point but even by what seems to be everyone's opinion they only lost to Curtis and Landry-Walker, wouldn't exactly call that "nothing"  :o
