and NS won the whole thing, better than the 3 seeds ahead of them. So what does that say about rankings?

It says they're close. Northshore was the top seed on their side of the bracket and their loss came before their QB was inserted.  Their loss is what put them behind those teams in the first place

I’ve said this before there are circumstances sometimes for losses. Just like Guyer and Allen.  But that’s a different topic

How do you define quality and deep?  In 6A, there ae the haves and the have nots.  What the playoffs prove is that there are few competitive games and mostly blowouts.  This data is both D1 and D2 for the past six years.

2021:

  • Regional Final - avg score 43-18 (25 point margin of victory) 5 games, two TDs or less (16 game sample)
  • Quarters - avg score 44-19 (25 point margin of victory) 2 games, two TDs or less (8 game sample)
  • Semis - avg score 47-15 (32 point margin of victory) one games, ZERO TDs or less (4 game sample)

2020:

  • Regional Final - avg score 42-22 (19 point margin of victory) 7 games, two TDs or less (16 game sample)
  • Quarters - avg score 44-19 (25 point margin of victory) 2 games, two TDs or less (8 game sample)
  • Semis - avg score 37-18 (19 point margin of victory) one game, two TDs or less (4 game sample)

2019:

  • Regional Final - avg score 43-23 (20 point margin of victory) 5 games, two TDs or less (16 game sample)
  • Quarters - avg score 52-29 (23 point margin of victory) 3 games, two TDs or less (8 game sample)
  • Semis - avg score 51-18 (33 point margin of victory) 1 game, two TDs or less (4 game sample)

2018:

  • Regional Final - avg score 42-23 (19 point margin of victory) 9 games, two TDs or less (16 game sample)
  • Quarters - avg score 37-13 (24 point margin of victory) 2 games, two TDs or less (8 game sample)
  • Semis - avg score 44-29 (15 point margin of victory) 3 games, two TDs or less (4 game sample)

2017:

  • Regional Final - avg score 42-21 (21 point margin of victory) 6 games, two TDs or less (16 game sample)
  • Quarters - avg score 34-16 (18 point margin of victory) 3 games, two TDs or less (8 game sample)
  • Semis - avg score 25 13(12 point margin of victory) 3 games, two TDs or less (4 game sample)

2016:

  • Regional Final - avg score 44-19 (25 point margin of victory) 6 games, two TDs or less (16 game sample)
  • Quarters - avg score 39-19 (20 point margin of victory) 3 games, two TDs or less (8 game sample)
  • Semis - avg score 44-24(21 point margin of victory) 2 games, two TDs or less (4 game sample)

That tells you after 16 games of Texas coaching some of these teams can light it up. But some of you come on here because your state had to build a multi-state power house and then pretend your state is good in football.

I don't pretend. I know we got good football everywhere and of course I'm proud of Texas football is pure genuine. Or as genuine as it can get.

The myth of Texas “depth”… LOL.

Most states are so jealous of Texas football they can't stand it.

Tell us what you got in your state I'll wait.

All the weaker States always try to wait till they have the most powerful multi State team built up then they come to Texas never play the best or one that wins state that year.

Have you ever seen a Texas team go try to play an out-of-state team and Target them for a mismatch no because they don't care every team's just a game to them.

California done it twice in a row what their number one ranked in the country team coming down and playing not the best in Texas. You see how that worked out for them they are 1-1 LOL.

But some of the pretenders in these states put a lot more stocking if than anyone else. They think the world's going to think they got a state full of good football cuz they built the probuilt Superstar team LOL

FYI - none of these if after sixteen games. I did not consider the first two, Bidistrict(11) or Area rounds(12j  (or state finals(16)).

I’m proud of the football we have in my state as well. I don’t have blinders on, and try not to be careful as I throw stones because I live in a glass house as well.

Texas teams rarely leave their own county, let alone the state. LOL. But major props to Nolan Catholic who came to CA play the 4th best Trinity League team last year…and got whacked.

Are you forgetting that a lowly 4 loss CA Bishop Amat team came to TX and crushed your state champ Aledo 42-7?  LOL. I believe that was their only loss in two seasons  😂

There are likely many reasons for this. A BIG one I’d think is money.

If I’m a promoter I want ticket sales in addition to TV revenue. Without renting a place, Allen could host SJB and have 18,000 tickets sold. The other way around is 5,000. While there are other factors, that is one you can’t overlook imo.

When Atascocita smacked Allen last year what was the attendance at Allen Stadium?

Allen lost 2 home games last year come to think about it.

Allen is 60-2 at home in their new stadium.

Year-by-year win-loss record

Year Record Source
20121 6–0 [11]
2013 5-0 [12]
20142 0-0 (Closed) [13]
20153 9–0 [14]
20164 5–0 [15]
20175 8–0 [16]
2018 8–0 [17]
2019 6–0 [18]
20206, 7 6-0 [19]
20218, 9 7-2 [20]

It’s nice to see big games like this in Texas , but the lack of travel among TX teams cannot be blamed on money. They can build $70mm football stadiums, but can’t afford to travel? Not buying it.

That Aledo example would mean oh so much more, if they didn’t decide to try to play a decent 6A team for once (Cedar Hill); lose to Cedar Hill 27 - 17.

Go undefeated and smash most of the rest of their schedule and win state. Yay Aledo.

Only for Cedar Hill to lose to Duncanville 28 - 14 (Duncanville would lose to Carroll 34 - 27, then Carroll would get destroyed by Westlake 52 - 34;

and Cedar Hill would go on to get bodied by Katy 51 - 14 at state ☺️

All I got out of this is a 4 loss Amat would have been one of the best teams in Texas

So basically you just helped debunk the “Texas depth” argument.
