frankyjames
Anyone see the coverage for this game on ESPN this morning? The showed about 3 highlights. All of Deion Sanders son, and him as coach. At the end of the highlights, they quickly showed the score. Trinity Christian lost to Episcopal 33-27. Not ONE highlight of Episcopal. This was a moderate upset!!!! Is this what it has come to?

We talked about it around Colquitt a few times when ESPN had sniffed around to cover a game. The last coach pretty much said what they were about and that in general he would rather have GPB handle games coverage as they at least try to give a little storyline about the communities and teams more than glorifying a couple of kids and their own poll. These things make it more difficult for a team to be unified was the general opinion.

I mean, at least they can be more transparent about it- "Hey, we could care less about the teams or the score, where is Deion's kid!?" The sad part is Deion’s son wasn’t even the highest rated QB in that game, it was Preston stone at episcopal

It is amazing to me that some people continue to cheer this stuff on at the expense of HSFB at that level.

Nolebull813
It was annoying as hell. Sanders JR always looked pissed off during the game. Like everyone around him wasn’t making him famous. Just carried himself crappy. I was rooting for Parish all the way. The camera on Deion was literally every single play. It was embarrassing. It was a low point in sports broadcasting. They get Tim Brown in the booth and these schmucks just want to talk about Deion. Like there ain’t a fucking game going on. Terrible by ESPN
frankyjames
People watch the NFL for stars. Leave HS and College alone.
Hsfblover
It’s funny I was watching it at the gym, and only saw them show deon on the sideline. Get home one and see he’s the offensive coordinator and not even the head coach. game ends and they show him leading the team in handshakes, and I still don’t know who the head coach is

If there was no recruiting angle then there would be no televised high school games on ESPN. Why? High school football gets about 90k viewers on it's own. Reruns of Paw Patrol at 2am get about 5x more viewers.
HawgGoneIt
This is true, but it doesn't make it any less seedy feeling. These are still kids. The majority of the kids on the field are minors. They basically are being shit on for ESPN to make their talking points. It's like a big sham in the grand scheme of things. It's gotten worse each year, but, ESPN has went over the top with the bull this year.

Episcopal plays in the top Tapps league and Cedar Hill Trinity Christian plays in the next level down.
