my hunch, not as "less" as the reps would have you believe.

You think it might be the shorter duration of use that makes them less lethal?

I'd really like to hear your opinion.

Make's what less lethal?   I wasn't specifically talking about any specific drugs or reps.   As a dentist I don't really get too many actual drug reps, but certain new forms of antibiotics or dental materials etc.

For example, I have a hard time trying to push patients (by hard time I mean I don't really try and sell it at all lol) into putting Arrestin (minocyclin sphere's) into all their deep gingival pockets when I can barely convince them to do a deeper cleaning.   The reps try and make it sound like it's needed, but in reality it's not.  It might help as an adjunct, but the mechanical removal of bacteria is the main thing that's going to help prevent the progression of their periodontitis.

Reps try and say we should make it standard and raise the prices of the deep cleaning.   Ehh.

No, most know only what the reps tell them and there in lies the problem.

Ehh they might believe what the reps say based on previous literature read on the subject.   Or they might not see much a difference between drug A vs drug B, and they choose the one that gives them the most benefit.   In reality most doctors aren't working for themselves anymore so they aren't really benefiting from those decisions.   A lot of times it's the insurance companies that they provide for (patients insurance) that determines what brands of drugs the patient ends up getting.

Just curious which drugs specifically are you upset about?

I'd say a big controversy these days has to do with immunizations.   I for one think getting a flu shot is stupid, but a lot of people in my field are ADAMANT about getting them.  To each their own.  IMO, people should ALWAYS do some research themselves, because they ultimately make the decisions.

I'm much more critical of the pharm and insurance companies than the docs.

One thing I loath about the medical field is the differential treatment.   For example, people are NOT getting the best health care possible.  Why?  Because they can't afford it and insurance companies don't cover it.   Do you think a physical exam a NFL player gets at the combine and a physical you or I get at our regular checkups are the same?   I feel like when I go to the doctor for something they don't really check anything.   Is that the doctor's fault?  Not really, it's the insurance industry's (also gov health organization's) fault for not wanting to really cover the expenses to do more.

We have the technology to have DNA based personalized healthcare, but only the rich or some Pro athletes really are getting it.  If a kid of a wealthy family is much shorter than the average, they can get Human Growth Hormones and in most cases end up taller or more "filled out".  A kid from a poor or "middle" class family usually just ends up just being short lol.

There are people that are regularly getting state of the art personalized biomarker/nutritional screenings that 99.99% either can't afford or simply don't even know about.  The "standard of care" could be much much better IMO.

Then again our standard of care is much better than most other parts of the world, so....

The pediatrician my wife works for told her last week that an insurance company offered her bonuses to NOT send out kids to specialists.  That's the shit that pisses me off.  That pediatrician of course said no, but she is also one of the few in my area that accepts medicaid.   So I don't doubt that some doctors do shady stuff.

By the way , the deportee was back on U.S. soil this morning.

In reality, the messenger is just a random joe happy to have a job.   It is what it is, but I reserve the right to mess with them!

Well I'm a dentist, so the products repped are a little less life threatening lol.   I just like trying to get them to admit they could be wrong.   Salesman are NEVER wrong.   My dad's a salesman (not in the medical field), and I personally go out of my way to try and call him out on everything lol.

I knew there was a reason I didnt like you...

All dentist are evil....

He's been in the US illegally for 40 years (since age 7).  He had an extensive rap sheet...

and he was deported yesterday to Mexico.   Not in the article above but I can confirm.

Bravo on Bravo.  Trump +1.  Gotta be transparent.   Wanted to share.

I'd rather have that illegal immigrant catching a bunch of petty charges roaming the street than this American getting off with a 6 month smack on the wrist. This dude is more than likely responsible for thousands of deaths but he's not illegal so he gets 6 months

Lol, you just know that guy took the whole damn city down with him to get 6 months rehab.   That dude will probably be in hiding for the rest of his days.

I grew up in a neighborhood full of rats and never in my life have l heard of such a lenient sentence.

:(  That's an April 1st article candidate.  Treatment?  For what, drug dealing?  Chris Crispy Creme must be proud of that one.
