Archbishop Rummel News....

Recommended Posts

The Raiders can wrap up their 17th Catholic League Championship tonight vs a solid (6-3) Jesuit squad at Tad Gormley Stadium in NOLA.....Should have a nice crowd. My guess is between 9,000-10,000.

...a Rummel win would secure the #1 seed in the D1 playoffs as well. That would be huge.

Nationally: Jesuit is ranked #704...a lot of teams will play worse squads tonight. Can't take the Blue Jays lightly.

Rummel RB Junior Logan Diggs (2021 class) had a huge recruiting week picking up offers from Louisville, Virginia and his first SEC offer from Arkansas......that's a good week for a 3* RB.

Wonder what the rental fee is.

BGW

$2,500 for day games

$3,250 for night games

"Of course, that does not include the additional costs for security, an emergency unit on stand-by, ticket sellers and takers and the men in stripes who officiate the games."

Big games all over the state tonight, huge one at Rebel Stadium where we host the Ruston Bearcats...  Rummel humbled them earlier in the year 41 - 0.  Other than that game they could have won all the others, they have lost to some of the top teams in the state; their other losses to Neville 21 - 20, Acadiana 28 - 20, and ASH 17 - 14.

Quick stats, a Ruston win would force a 3 way tie for the District 2 -5A Championship, West Monroe already has a share of their 24th straight District Championship and we sport a 94 game district winning streak dating back to 2002.

Longer than that since the Bearcats have beaten the Rebs, last time was back in 1990, West Monroe has won 31 straight over Ruston... lots of folks think this is the year, Ruston will match up well with my Rebs

and that's how it ends, Ruston had stopped the Rebs with 1:05 left and had 12 men on the field when WM lined up to punt...  penalty gave WM the 1st down and we run the clock.  Great game but the streak continues...  95 straight in the district, 32 straight over the Bearcats and the outright district championship for the 24th straight year

GO REBS!

The Select/Private schools voted earlier this year NOT to play their Title games in the Superdome any longer......part of that Public/Private madness that won't end anytime soon.

I'm 99.5% certain the D1 Title game will be held at Tulane's Yulman Stadium. Will know for sure in a couple weeks. No clue about the other Private classes yet.

Yulman Stadium is perfect though and a solid venue....

A John Curtis/Rummel rematch would fill it.
