Tier 3 –Allen*, Southlake Carrol, St. Eds, Colquitt*,  Longview, Northwestern, SJP*, Cen10, Chandler, Mission Viejo, Bishop Gorman, Marietta, Grayson

Tier 4 -   Westlake, CHill, Guyer, OLGC , John Curtis*, Rummel, McEachern, DeMatha, Rockwall Tx, Gonzaga, Punahu,  Corner Canyon, Servite, DBP*, Lake Travis, Male, Lakeland

Tier 5  East St. Louis, Dutch Fork, Mallard Creek, Hoover, Catholic-BR, SJR  Colerain, Elder, Lincoln way East, North Gwinett, Hamilton, Saguaro, SPP, Hoban,  Pick central, Buford, DeSoto, West Monroe

Tier 6 - Trinity (Ky), Aledo, Byrnes, Centennial AZ*,  Helix, Valdosta, Corona Del Mar,   Miami Central*

Dropped out - Folsom, Shadow Creek, Narbonne, Bergen Catholic, Cathedral Catholic,   Columbia, JSerra, St. X, Iggy

*- Indicates teams on probation for their Tier.

*Requests to add your team will be honored.  But must be Tier 6 or above to be placed on a Tier.

Below is an explanation of the Methodolgy used to place the teams on various Tiers.  The Tier concept recognizes that W/L records are a function of quality of opponent, and as such, RELEVANCY of opponent MUST be factored in.  The Tiers recognizes that in some cases, a 10-0 team (ranked in Top 100 by some outlets) could get blown off the field by a 5-5 (unranked) team that played a tougher schedule.  This is why the Tiers was created.

*Not attempting to rank every team, only the ones we discuss on this site.

*Teams are ranked appropriately for that week in the season.  Teams can improve and regress comparatively.

* The Tiers are fluid and subject to extreme fluctuations early in the year, leveling out as the year progresses.

*Tier placements consider a teams entire body of work, however are weighted heaviest on recent games and game weights decrease in significance in reverse order.  In other words, early road OOS losses to relevant teams can be overcome as the season progresses.

*Teams placed on the same Tier can compete with other same Tier teams and possibly win 2+ of 10.

*Basically there is a -10 point drop between tiers.  Could vary from a TD to 3 scores depending on the styles of teams playing.  This does not necessarily mean that there is a 30 point difference between Tier 1 and Tier 3, only that the chances of a Tier 3 team beating a Tier 1 team are exponentially less than the chances of a Tier 2 Team beating a Tier 1 team.

*The Tiers will ultimately be made up of (8-16) teams per Tier that would form competitive playoff brackets. In some cases Tiers would be combined to get to 8 or 16 teams.

*Texas teams generally have not played enough OOS games to gauge properly #crapshoot.  There must be a daisy chain OOS connection for a reference point.  Teams with no OOS daisy chain connection may not be placed on a Tier.  (Texas exempt)

*Tiers are based on exhaustive research, Multiple games watched, and good gut feelings.

*This is a crowd sourced rating. All input will be considered and adjustments will be made as appropriate

Week 12

Some good playoff action this week.  In the East, DBP prep continues to surge, rolling to an impressive win over BC.  SJC rolls for a 2nd win over Dematha, boosting their stock.  In the South, Lowndes looks stronger and stronger with each week.  Texas saw Katy struggle and is in jeopardy of dropping a Tier.  Duncanville benefits by the SJC surge of late.  The Midwest saw Mentor and St. Ed punched their tickets to a showdown next Friday.   American Male wins, and ST. X completes a disappointing season, and an exit from The Tiers.  Out west both SJB and MD rolled to impressive wins, and Mission Viejo showed there is substance with a close win over a young but surging Servite team.  Cen10 looked like the Huskie of old with a boatrace of overhyped JSerra, which also exited The Tiers.  Folsom was on the verge of reappearing in The Tiers but stumbled vs. unknown Edison.

I will assure you Allen and North Shore are both closer to going Tier 1 than they are dropping 1 Tier

The Tiers are like grades.   The Teams earn them, The Tiers just records the results.

Lakeland got what they deserved.

#trendingdown

You don't have Armwood or North Gwinnett anywhere in there. But you do have teams like Lincoln Way East there. And there are several teams you have ahead of Lakeland that they'd beat even without their two best lineman.

You're a California guy who has limited knowledge on teams not from California and/or haven't played teams from California. It's all good. All fun and games. Surely, nobody takes your rankings seriously.

badrouter,

He has LWE and ESL in tier 5....why is that a problem for you ? Just because you think that Arnwood and N.Gwinnet ....both good teams......aren`t in the tiers doesn`t mean that LWE shouldn`t be there. I`m surprised that he has Mentor in tier 2 after his comments about Ohio football several weeks ago.

Why don't you amuse all of us and attempt to construct an argument in favor of having Lincoln Way East IN, but Armwood and North Gwinnett OUT?

🤡

These tiers would be much better if you did the right thing which I've been pushing for 2 weeks now

Have Mater Dei at tier 1 by themselves (they defeated perhaps the second and third best teams in the country convincingly)

Bump rest of tier 1 down to tier 2 and go from there, if you have to just go down the list and move the remaining tiers a spot down (current tier 2 to 3 and current tier 3 to 4 and so on)

Or just have Mater Dei in a Tier 0 by themself. I think if MD ends up winning out there will be no choice other than doing this.

The Ters don’t tey to rank every single team.  Only those teams that people inquire about or are talked about on the threads.

If you would like to have Armwood and North Gwinnett places on a Tier, just say so

I would agree that Katy should probably drop a tier.  They're playing 2 third string OLinemen, and a third string RB.  They're also missing 2 starting DBs at the moment.  They're having a rough go.  They can move back up if they keep winning.

Who is retuning for the cy-fair game?

@Sammyswordsman Don’t agree with dropping Lakeland that much. Why didn’t you do the same to SJB after the Servite game? Very similar situation. If LL beats STA, it’ll then adversely affect DLS. Need to think these things through.

Lakeland has had multiple poorly played games this year.  Last week was one of their worst.  Either they are just plain bored with their competition or not as good as last year.  We don't have anything close to a relevant game to judge them on, so they are on "stand by" until the Armwood game.

SJB had a way better resume having played 5+ teams better, (some much better) than Lakeland's best opponent as of the Servite game.

False. Lakeland had never been challenged or threatened...at all. The only previous game that I'd call a poor showing was one where they were also without several key players, including their 5* RB. And a couple of their wins "aged well". Manatee doesn't suck after all. Hialeah didn't suck, either, given they knocked off South Dade to win their district.

The game Friday was still one where they were on the cusp of blowing it open. Up 14-0, Bowman takes a 2nd down carry and gets a 1st down. But, as he's falling out of bounds he pulls a defender down by the facemask and gets called for a dead ball personal foul which negates the 1st down and brings up 3rd and long. And then they continued to unravel with several more personal fouls (some of which were quite iffy). The team they faced was playing their best ball of the season, coming off a 52-13 road playoff win the week prior.

I've acknowledged that, if they continue to be without the two best lineman, they aren't nationally elite (i,.e. top 10-15)  and your placement of them may be a bit more rational. But, if they have those guys, I believe they have enough to win 7A.
