frankyjames
71 transfers for the 2018 season for Mater Dei, with the other Trinity League schools not far behind. Is this eroding HS football nationally? Let her rip!

It is actually 11. Half that played this year. 15 is the total across all sports. And technically, all DLS players are semi transfers, since none live "in district." Not that it matters, but when we don't have enough transfers, we usually get down to the "your players weren't born in Folsom!" argument. #TransferTrain #SanJoseStateSpartans

Texasfrog
By eroding California HS football. It all depends on how you look at it. Do you like having basically "TWO" Power-house recruited-up "SELECT ALL-STAR TEAMS" every year that will probably be Mater Dei and St.Johns Bosco for the near future and almost everyone else in California taking a seat way back in the bus? If you like that... Then it's great!! But if you want a more level playing field with 10-15 teams from across the State of California all having a legit competitive chance on the field. Then NO!!! Because unless something changes in California regarding the CIF Policies... Mater Dei and SJB will be "KINGS" of the California so called High School football fields for the near and far future. JUST a 100% FACT!!

Texasfrog
The Los Angeles CIF has ruled Narbonne eligible for the 2020 season. They have about 10-12 FBS Prospects listed on the roster that could be on the 2020 roster. My hunch is we'll see a handful of the Narbonne (FBS Prospects) suddenly wearing Mater Dei and St John Bosco uniforms next year.

For a public school with rules 11 football transfers are a lot. If there is a problem at least admit that Folsom is part of it! I know it's tough to critically think San Jose State, but if you actually paid attention, Folsom was 3rd in their own league for total transfers for the last decade. It was just this year that they got a small group of them. That still pales in comparison to 71 for MD

But all will happen is a vast majority of the talented kids (D1 prospects) will end up on a handful of Private Schools each year and the Public School football will become a much less competitive level of football. You'll have 8 or so very good "Private Schools" around the State loaded with 20-25 FBS Prospects. I think the "Transfer Policy" needs to be more strict in California. If you transfer to a school without an official move.. Then you sit out a year of athletics. More of the "School Zone" concept.

That's a 100% fact. I'm sure everyone one of those kids has been contacted one way or another by someone (Alum, Coaching staff, players) from Mater Dei or SJB and basically told... "Hey, you would look great wearing a MD or SJB uniform next year."😉

I disagree, as we have more D1 prospects on any given year than 95 percent of privates in CA. That is a fact. I think separation levels the playing field. Maybe have the winner of public and private play together for the "Superbowl" every year?
