Tier 4 -   Westlake, Male, Colquitt, St. Louis, Mission Viejo*, Buford, Lakeland*, Allen*, Elder*, Armwood, Catholic- BR, Lake Travis*, St. Eds, Mentor, Pick Central*, Atascocita*

Tier 5  East St. Louis,  Lincoln way East, SPP,  Liberty NV, Servite, Bishop Gorman,   Longview, John Curtis, Rummel, Guyer, Corner Canyon,  Dallas Jesuit, Archer, Cen10, Corona Del Mar, DBP, .Martin Tx,

Tier 6 - Trinity (Ky), Aledo, Byrnes, Centennial AZ*,  Helix, Valdosta, Colerain,  Desoto,  Chill, Dutch Fork, Mallard Creek, Hoover, Hamilton,   SJR, Punahu,

Dropped out - Folsom, Shadow Creek, Narbonne, Bergen Catholic, Cathedral Catholic,   Columbia, JSerra, St. X, Iggy,  West Monroe, Hoban

*- Indicates teams on probation for their Tier.

*Requests to add your team will be honored.  But must be Tier 6 or above to be placed on a Tier.

Below is an explanation of the Methodolgy used to place the teams on various Tiers.  The Tier concept recognizes that W/L records are a function of quality of opponent, and as such, RELEVANCY of opponent MUST be factored in.  The Tiers recognizes that in some cases, a 10-0 team (ranked in Top 100 by some outlets) could get blown off the field by a 5-5 (unranked) team that played a tougher schedule.  This is why the Tiers was created.

*Not attempting to rank every team, only the ones we discuss on this site.

*Teams are ranked appropriately for that week in the season.  Teams can improve and regress comparatively.

* The Tiers are fluid and subject to extreme fluctuations early in the year, leveling out as the year progresses.

*Tier placements consider a teams entire body of work, however are weighted heaviest on recent games and game weights decrease in significance in reverse order.  In other words, early road OOS losses to relevant teams can be overcome as the season progresses.

*Teams placed on the same Tier can compete with other same Tier teams and possibly win 2+ of 10.

*Basically there is a -10 point drop between tiers.  Could vary from a TD to 3 scores depending on the styles of teams playing.  This does not necessarily mean that there is a 30 point difference between Tier 1 and Tier 3, only that the chances of a Tier 3 team beating a Tier 1 team are exponentially less than the chances of a Tier 2 Team beating a Tier 1 team.

*The Tiers will ultimately be made up of (8-16) teams per Tier that would form competitive playoff brackets. In some cases Tiers would be combined to get to 8 or 16 teams.

*Texas teams generally have not played enough OOS games to gauge properly #crapshoot.  There must be a daisy chain OOS connection for a reference point.  Teams with no OOS daisy chain connection may not be placed on a Tier.  (Texas exempt)

*Tiers are based on exhaustive research, Multiple games watched, and good gut feelings.

*This is a crowd sourced rating. All input will be considered and adjustments will be made as appropriate

Week 14 saw some good matchups and reaffirmed Tier movement from the previous week.  Once again The Tiers got right, and spotted trends, what the LAZY polls were too slow to react to.

Here are a few:

The Tiers moved Katy down from Tier 2 to Tier 3 prior to the loss to North Shore.

The Tiers kept North Shore in Tier 2 all Seasons despite the opening loss to Katy.

The Tiers held both Mallard Creek and Dutch Fork down in Tier 5 and were proven right with Mallard Creek losing to #90 7-13 this week.

The Tiers kept SJB in Tier 1 despite a loss, a 1 point win over Servite, and massive pressure to drop them to Tier 2

The Tiers refused to move Mater Dei to Tier 0 or a Tier by themselves despite massive pressure to do so.

The SJB win helps bolster OLGC which beat nemesis SJC in the WCAC title game.  The other WCAC teams also enjoyed a boost this week.

Over achieving DBP sees their great run come to an end.  DBP did more with less than any team in HS football this year.

John Curtis gets blanked by a Catholic-BR team, not known for their defense.

Big North shore win and a rematch with DV looming large now.  North Shore gets promoted to Tier 1.

Impressive win by Duncanville over a surging Martin team.  6a is shaping up nicely with the favorites advancing.

Lake Travis, Atascatocia still surviving in Texas

Georgia has a great final 4 with Lowndes still dominating, but facing a stiff test in the semis vs. a surging North Gwinett.  The other side of the bracket has a great one shaping up with Powerful Marietta vs. Parkview.  Buford continues to roll with their depleted offense securing  a very impressive win over Carrolton, but roll into the title game banged up.

STA continues to roll through Fla 7a and with both Lakeland and Armwood now eliminated, the road is pretty much cleared for another Title.

Armwood chokes and is unable to finish after an improbable win over Lakeland.

Mentor chokes vs. a Pick Central team with no previous relevant wins, and dubious other opponents.  Colerain goes down after rallying late in the season.  Surging Elder moves on to the finals.

Corner Canyon continues to roll through a questionable Utah bracket.  The Tiers are not high on Utah this year.  Tier 5 state similar to South and North Carolina.

Chandler seems to have gotton their feet back under them after a scare vs. Hamilton and face off with a Saguaro team finally playing their best ball and living up to the pre season hype.

St. Louis finishes the season rolling Mililani and Kahuku.

1...Should've dropped one then brought back up on merit.

2... Bahahaha. Where's that "massive" pressure?

But Armwood remained in same tier as Lakeland?

Week 14 TEARS for Mater Dei. Bye bye MNC. Dream season down the drain.

their 2nd half against SJC was as impressive as it gets, and SJC was loaded.  Hats off.

SJD and MD raised the bar.  I think MD would smoke many past MNC winners.  I loved Bosco's '11 defense, but I wouldn't love it against MD.

SJB is finally hitting their stride with big wins vs. Cen10 and MD back to back.  Not good news for DLS, especially since DLS has been watching film, scheming, and practicing for Mater Dei since week 6

That’s the truth. And DLS is an after thought to SJB.

This is DLS’ entire season

SJB surely don’t earn any credit for beating  a team whose beat win is over the devil and who is ranked below below Parkview and Marietta in your tiers

Not even worthy of discussion.

Agreed.   Hope DLS beefs up their schedule next year with their Marquee QB being in his senior year.  Need to have 3 High profile National level games.  Otherwise whats the point of the Trinity League champ playing the SBG?

I was assured by Pops that this year they had a "monster" schedule.

On 4/7/2019 at 3:26 PM, Pops said:

That’s a monster schedule — there’s some better from the academy teams but for a normal team, especially one without much returning, this schedule is a beast

There’s two teams that would be 3/4 in socal this year and considering socal will have a couple of top 3 teams in country, that’s saying something

Folsom didn’t live up to billing or recent past — don’t know if program slipping or just one of those villa park sort of games.  That changes — honestly — the veracity of my earlier comments

I still stand by a team that’s on a path to play the winner of the #1 and #2 teams in the country that optionally schedules the #1 team from the opposite coast and the only other national top 25/50 team within 300 miles as doing just fine schedule-wise.

never represented, and specifically called out that it’s not, an academy team schedule
