Coming back from a dislocated shoulder?

The guy devin ortiz(Aaron Judge  Junior) from SJR dislocated his shoulder, in his non throwing arm,....  the question is does he risk coming back for the state playoffs or does he call this year done and get ready for draft and college

Im assuming its baseball?  As a former player who had shoulder problems it would depend on his position..

Having shoulder problem for quite some time I can tell you he will never be the same. He should take as long as he can to heal.

1st base pitcher....and best hitter on team.... obviously I think he won't pitch but how long before you can swing a bat @100% power after a dislocated shoulder

Again take as long as he needs. Worst thing is coming back too soon.

Damn even as a first baseman you gotta be mobile to pick those weak throws from across the diamond.  Is he a righty ot lefty?

Agreed.  Back in my day, the 90's, it was all about shoot him up and get him out there.  Do not recommend this as I did powerlifting after college for a few years and now can't sleep on either side since it kills my shoulders.  RICE!!!  Rest, Ice, something, something.

Dude I have had to have my C4 and C5 fused (neck) because of shoulder pain. It put me out of the Corps. I till cant sleep on my sides and my fingers on my right hand and back of my triceps still go numb. I still lift today. However I am more of a rep guy. Im currently doing 100's. I love them. I burn like hell when Im finished.

Thats why I refuse to have surgery.  My neck and middle back hurt too.  Just heard too many bad stories about surgery.  I lift like a little bitch now.  Use to be all about how much I could lift so I could get the looks from people while I lifted. Now I just try and blend in and try not to wince on every rep.

Yeah man I stay away from heavy weight. I was the same way. Now I cant load 135 on the flat bench. My shoulders are so kissed.

This, that shoulder is going to keep popping out no matter what.   Might as well play.

As he gets older it is not about playing a game. It is quality of life. I still like to throw the football and play catch with my son. I now have to throw the football in a fast pitch motion, because I cant rotate my shoulder. Believe me man it is not worth it.

It's probably going to bother him at the plate (assuming he bats the same side he throws).

This is why I asked him if he was left or righty and which shoulder hurt.  Will totally affect his swing if its the back shoulder or follow thru shoulder which is where the pop comes from.

This is true, but it is his non throwing shoulder,  it's definitely going to bother him batting as a righty.   It's definitely no easy decision, especially if the kid really loves the game.  It's so very hard for a person to give up on their dreams at that age.

Love this site.  He looks like a baller and is going to a great school for college. He should rest as much as he can.  But since its his left shoulder and he is a righty batter he can maybe play thru the discomfort but would depend on type of injury. He mos def looks the part.

Agreed,  this is why he needs to take as long as he needs to heal. Sad as it may be his dreams may have come to an end. Unfortunately there is a very thin line between our dreams and our nightmare's. A dislocated shoulder for any athlete is a nightmare.

Yeah your probably right.   Definitely don't want to force it.  Especially if he already has interest at the next level.

Yeah hel be a first or second round draft pick if he doesn't go to Virginia... he actually tweeted out that hel be back for the state championships,,, this only happened 2 weeks ago

Yeah there is no way in hell Im  going back 2 weeks after a dislocation. His coach and his father ought to have their asses kicked. Frigging state? Are you kidding me? I mean me or you winning state might be the highlight of our sports career. This kid is a prospect with worst case getting a scholly to VA. Dumb.

I mean he did say unless he's less than 100% hes going to be back

thats why I asked the original question on how long

it seems shoulder injurys are very serious so I would not ruin my career for a high school game.. he has nothing to prove he's already committed
