I just don't see what makes 2017 MD better then 2018 MD... I think 2019 may have actually been the Best team, Still cant figure out how they blew that lead to SJB, other then the injured secondary...

Daniels was better than Jr. year Bryce Young IMO. Seems to me BY made a major leap in his senior season. Have to think USAA has hit him up to see if he can skip Saban and co and get more exposure with Dusty and Joe.

That 2017 Oline was unreal. I don't think any db on 2019 MD locks up Amon-Ra. Solomon Tuliaupupu was a freak at MLB. Elias Ricks & DGW shut it down outside too. They beat the New Jersey state champions by 48 points. That being said, 2019 Monarchs by 2 scores.

Early in season was 2017 better than 2018 imop. They had a lot of new players in 2018 , and after the SJB game, that MD team came on big time down the stretch . The 2018 defense was clearly better than 2017 overall . And Bryce really came into his own . Both teams great , but by championship game , my bet would have been on 2018

2017 MD would not have Beat 2018 MD or 2019 MD.... Those 2 Teams Played tougher competition and hold wins over IMG and SFA... BG post Tate Martell and BC were not on the level of either IMG or SFA.... Plus SJB wasn't nearly as good in 2017 as they were in 18-19...

I will take the team that had a comeback and win against IMG rather then a team that never trailed against lesser competition... I know MD had a Star Receiver sit out against BG, but 2017 BG was not anything like 2016 BG with Tate Martell...

I think The Greatest Team from CA ever was 1999 or 2001 DLS... Those 2 teams had the Talented Athletes and Future NFL type of prospects to beat the Super Teams of today... Those DLS Team's  had Matt Guiterrez at QB who could not only run the veer well, but was a terrific passer and future NFL type of Receivers...

I would take all 4 of those teams over 2017 MD... Maybe even 2019 SJB as well.... All just my opinion of course! :)

All understood and well taken.

Whoa Whoa Whoa...Cool those Jets.

2017 MD was a "Once in a Generation " team.

Offensively they were better on the line and RB than the 2019 team.  Passing game had more WR's.  St. Brown and Bru to start with.  2019 MD had their passing game throttled simply by doubling the #1 WR like SJB did,

Defensively the 2017 Front 7 was better.  No way SFA would have been able to get all those running yards vs the 2017 team.  The backers especially were beasts.  Masa Funa and Solo were 5* guys.

That being said, both of those teams beat DLS 1999 and 2001 and 2003.  I saw all of those DLS teams play and being 1 dimensional offense would be the killer for them.  Also the DLS secondary would have been torched

which team is considered the best High School team to ever come out of Texas? that would be a dream match up with the 2017 MD team or the 2001 or 1999 DLS team.

Then you would have seen Matt Gutierrez throw 6 TD passes against MD as a freshman.... That DLS team had I think 4 future NFL players on it.... as did 2001...

1999 DLS  and 2001 with MJD would be just fine against 2017 MD... totally different Veer when the QB is 6’3 and can throw to future NFL players like Demitrius Williams....

The whole “Once In a Generation” Team thing is way overblown... Great Team, MNC all they way.... “Best Ever”, Certainly Debatable....

But that is what makes this fun!!!...🤣👍🏈

This computer you refer to has obviously never watched actual games before....🤣

2001 DLS had at least 4 future NFL players on the team with a veer QB who was good enough to make it to the NFL....

They also beat the #1 team in the country on the road.... 2001 DLS has their place in HSFB history... They put their streak on the line against the #1 team in the country...

And Won.... 🤣🤣

Agreed.  That's a friggin joke.  Poly's D that year was better than ANY of these TX teams'.  Mo Drew would have sliced and diced them, too.

Poly had a weak set of LB'ers that year.  All first year starters, none of them College ability guys.  That is why Lad got MJD isolated on the backers and torched them.

Pago Togafau started for poly in 2000

Played in the NFL as well. That poly team was flawed on offense. A 5'8 QB that wasn't very good being the biggest weakness

In retrospect that Poly team had glaring weaknesses.  Starting with a first year coach and the backers were not well coached and were lost agains the veer. Togafu was Only junior and a new starter.   He was nowhere to be found that Game

like you mentioned the Offense was anemic.  The rest of the CIF was Tier 2 nationally.  Poly was Tier 1 only because they could out athlete everyone.  Today’s SJB and MD would win 49-0 vs that Poly team
