Even leading in blindly with your shoulder can lead to a targeting call if the player turns his head and your crown contacts him. Best practice is to just look at him while you go in for the tackle. Go chest first and wrap up. That was the way I was taught a long time ago anyway. Gotta get back to teaching it that way in the tiny mites leagues so by the time they are in the college national championship they know better than to dive in head first like that.
