Testadura
There is a "'diversity equity and inclusion statement' required of anyone hired by the University of California, or desiring a raise or promotion. This is a required statement each candidate must write 'Demonstrating Interest in and Ability to Advance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.' It's not about whether you are 'diverse,' meaning belonging to a racial, gender, or sexual-preference group the University wishes to hire. It is a statement, as it says, of your active participation in a political movement. Jerry's news in this post is that the statements are now being scored numerically, and only the files of those scoring high enough are passed on for scholarly review." "The university not only requires the statements, but gives these statements precedence in the hiring process, so that if your statement doesn’t exceed a minimum numerical cutoff for promoting diversity, increasing it in your past, and promulgating it in the future should you be hired, your candidacy is terminated. [Emphasis in original.]" "Abigail Thompson, professor of mathematics at UC Davis, * * * dared to question diversity statements in a letter to the American Mathematical Society, pointing out that they are political tests Why is it a political test? Politics are a reflection of how you believe society should be organized. Classical liberals aspire to treat every person as a unique individual, not as a representative of their gender or their ethnic group. [where did I hear that before?] The sample rubric dictates that in order to get a high diversity score, a candidate must have actively engaged in promoting different identity groups as part of their professional life.... Requiring candidates to believe that people should be treated differently according to their identity is indeed a political test...The idea of using a political test as a screen for job applicants should send a shiver down our collective spine...." "In closing, the report notes Finalists were asked to describe their efforts to promote equity and inclusion, as well as ideas for advancing equity and inclusion at Berkeley, as part of their job talk....Only candidates who demonstrated, through their knowledge, past contributions, and/or future plans for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, potential to meet Berkeley standards were advanced as finalists and ultimately proposed candidates. [Emphasis in original.]" https://johnhcochrane.blogspot.com/2020/01/wokeademia.html

Every applicant that doesnt get hired should have a class action lawsuit
Testadura
I'm almost 54, and should make it across the finish line OK. But my youngers??? Bush vs Clinton vs Bush vs Obama vs Trump . . . largely bullshit for many issues affecting us. This started well before Trump, but it's happening under him now. If he were to get 4 more yrs, maybe he'd end stuff like this, but maybe not. Others definitely would promote and propagate it. Maybe, the courts, no matter who's President, will find it illegal. But the sheep who do and feel nothing, while their throats are figuratively slit . . . well, maybe they deserve it. George Carlin said that we get the politicians whom we deserve--maybe he was right. Many are spoiled and stupid and lazy. Unable mentally or physically to fight. Which raises the question, why wake the weak up, then? Just take advantage of them if they won't fight back, and make sure your ass ain't in the cross-fire when this "movement" heads your way. Immunize yourself as best you can. Learn to code, as they say. Marry a dude. If you're not in the 1%, you're screwed. and most of the 99%, if this board is any indication, are worried about inane things. They argue for people who and policies that will ruin them. LOL. I can only get promoted in the Physics Dep't if I love trannies and ladled soup for them at the homeless shelter??? As if this Country could spare smart people, and hand over jobs to supposedly caring and well-intentioned nitwits. .5% of people in this Country have IQs 140 and above. That's 1.6-mllion people, which includes the old and young, among others, which obviously isn't sufficient for all the cognitive occupations, as we import many brains (some of that importation is b/c we get to pay H-1b visas less). I want a tender idiot (according to Cali's definition of a tender idiot, not mine) teaching physics or chemistry or engineering??? These people have no idea how hard it is to be a superpower. Road to hell paved with good intentions? Easier to make a smart person nice, than a nice person smart. Etc. Power grab. -The Deconstructed Penis
