A large portion of the nation absolutely hates Trump and his supporters with a passion. And then Trump and his supporters hate those folks back.

- Along these lines, a Civil War in the not-too-distant future is entirely possible. Trumpsters have gained tribal supremacy and have hijacked the government, destroying all norms and common decency in the process. Should an opposing group ever break back through and regain power, Trumpsters figure to go full-blown Cliven Bundy and start using their beloved guns to shoot everyone not a part of their tribe.

- The ends- absolutely- now justify the means. There's little to no refutation of the assertions that Trump is a complete fraud and liar. Now, the rebuttal amounts to some variation of "na-na-nah-boo-boo". Yes, he may have lied, cheated and stolen to get the power he has, but, too fucking bad! 

-We're on our way to becoming Latin America or Eastern Europe. Trust of government, and indeed other people in general, is next to zero. Rightfully so. People- the government and elected officials included- really may, and probably are going to,  lie, cheat or steal at any time. Everyone is trying to cheat and lie to everyone else. The only variable is who ends up with the upper hand. We're very close to becoming that here in the U.S.A.

And, presumably, as long as your 401k or index funds look good, that's A-OK to most of you.

The point remains the same: the country is falling apart. Both tribes completely distrust the other, and have abandoned all efforts to work towards the common good. The country is not falling apart.  Actually things are objectively doing quite well.  We do have one noisy group that for whatever reason could not accept they lost an election (something Americans have been doing well with one exception since 1790). But one more election loss should neuter you, or get the more reasonable people on your side to tell you to get bent.  However it happens, we’ll survive.  This country has faced a lot worse than a bunch of maladjusted tweeters.

This only refers to some current economic indicators. A few select economic indicators, which were trending up well before the Liar in Chief set foot in the White House, hardly tells the whole story of how things are going in the country.

For people who are being trampled upon, y’all seem to make yourselves heard.  I hear y’all every time I turn on the TV, every time I fire up my phone and in every newspaper I read.  But, you know, that’s fine.  Because normal people can disagree on politics and not only be civil to one another, but actually be friends.  Something these “blue check” fools need to learn.

BTW, it appears that not only is the economic data strong, but a large majority of Americans feel the same way.  But go ahead, tell them they are either dumb or duped.  Worked so well for Ms. Clinton.

The only people that are falling apart is the left. Trump supporters are going about their business each day and enjoying the fruits of this economy and prosperity. The left has thrown an irrational, self-perpetuating, 3+ year hissy fit and whose actions are tearing at the fabric of this country. We put up with Obama without destroying shit and raising havoc. Trump won and I thought this would eventually die down. I was patient. I am patient no longer. The left has pissed me off to the point where I want nothing to do with them. And before you get all pissy yourself, I voted for Obama in '08 and have voted democrat most of my voting life. I have no clue as to WTF that party is doing now. And the dems should be asking themselves the question of WHY so many people are leaving their party. You'll see in Nov that this division isn't as bad as you think. I started a similar thread about Russia meddling in our elections and nobody from Trump camp would agree with me that we should unite against this fact.  Until Trump folks can stop their battle with reality and come back to the land of truth, you will be wasting your time just like I was.  Unfortunately.

Perceptions starting going bad precipitously in around 2013.  Whites started feeling better in 2015 and leveled off, but blacks' blues just kept getting worse.  In 2001, under Bush, a terrible racist, 70% of blacks felt solid; now, it's 40%.  I'm wondering whether race relation are worse today than they were when the Rosa Parks was ushered off the bus or when the South seceded.  Yeah, but it's true--Yale minorities need our help.   They are oppressed daily having to look at Shakespeare's bust.

Pew Research, 8/29/17, said that the number of Americans who viewed racism as a "big problem" doubled between 2011 and 2017.  Although EVERY AMERICAN'S life was become more insecure, blacks had to be smart enough to see that they weren't being singled out, and that in every measurable way they were doing better.

So, then, were many Americans given new lenses thru which to see the world?, cause I saw huge progress since I was born in 1966, and I'm sure the data supports me.  Anecdotes?  That's where those w/o facts find solace and shelter.  But here's 1 to buck some up, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale are less than 50% white, which sure sounds like great news to me.  Maybe when we're all dumb, poor, and stupid, we'll start to be equal.
