ATLien12x
Kirby hired a man that’s never coached in his career to an on the field position. If Saban thought he was good enough for that job he would’ve given him one also, Alabama is not exactly the first place I’d look for a special teams coach but to each their own

ATLien12x
Like I said, if Saban thought he was good enough to be an on the field coach in the last 13 years he would’ve been. He wasn’t. Good luck at Georgia
BUFORDGAWOLVES
Well, Rufus wasn't pithy, nor cynical or pessimistic even... and in a straightforward way which is a tad unusual in itself. I'm rolling with Rufus on this one. BGW GO DAWGS!

Alabama ruins kickers. It is a Saban failure.
HooverOutlaw
I think these coaches understand working for Saban may not be worth it. I love Alabama but we have assistant coaches always leaving.

Met him back in 2010 through my brother in law who just retired after 42 years coaching football in Alabama and Ms. Have also met and talked to Coach Saban twice. Have you ever met him? Yes, several times. I have...and we're damn lucky to get him. True He has wanted to be an on field coach for a long time. Good for him I say. He had an important roll at Bama and preformed it at an outstanding level. He will be missed. Rufus>>

We tried to get him shortly after Kirby took the reins...but he wasn't ready at that point. And yes sir...we are truly fortunate to have him now. He will help fill a void caused by Arkansas and their new HC...(Smile). Rufus>>

I feel like he’s the savage business man that fights to get to the top but might not know what to do when/if he gets there. First he needed the players...he got them, still couldn’t get it done (albeit I think they probably should have won against Bama that year). I just figure since he’s got the pieces the next move is find better ways to utilize those studs (especially on offense). Get some X&O guys and have a bit less emphasis on pure recruiting coaches. UGA has the players to win it all next year, but can they? Not so sure. Seems like the strategy is get even more players.

He needs to grow into the role of a president) CEO and less boots on the ground and trust his managers (assistants) to do what they do best. He is essentially running a multi million dollar business.
