CNN's Jim Acosta Calls Out Donald Trump's 'Record On Delivering The Truth' To His Face

HuffPost‎February‎ ‎25‎, ‎2020‎ ‎9‎:‎07‎ ‎AM

CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta again traded verbal blows with President Donald Trump during a news conference in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The fiery exchange saw Acosta tell Trump that CNN’s “record on delivering the truth is a lot better than yours sometimes, if you don’t mind me saying.”

Trump ― who, according to The Washington Post has told more than 16,000 lies since taking office ― hit back, telling Acosta that “your record is so bad you ought to be ashamed of yourself.”

“You probably have the worst record in the history of broadcasting,” continued the president, who has often targeted CNN and Acosta in his anti-media attacks.

Acosta replied: “I’m not ashamed of anything and our organization is not ashamed, Sir.”

America's verdict on CNN:

Here’s the primetime breakdown of average viewers during the week of February 10:

Fox: 3.2 million

MSNBC: 1.677 million

CNNLOL: 969,000

As you can see, during the first presidential primary in four years (Iowa is a caucus), CNNLOL belly-flopped into ninth place, losing to HGTV, TLC, the History Channel, and only barely beating the Hallmark Channel.

How is that even possible?

Wait, it gets worse…

Here’s the total day viewership average for that same week:

Fox: 1.743 million

MSNBC: 920,000

CNNLOL: 630,000

Seriously, how is it even possible for a cable channel that’s currently available in some 85 million homes to attract only 630,000 average viewers throughout the day — especially during the week of the New Hampshire primary?

Compared to this same week last year, Fox is up 27 percent in total primetime viewers and 18 percent in total day viewers.

Compared to this same week last year, CNNLOL is down five percent in primetime viewers and nine percent in total day.

The only good news for CNN is that it lost a lower percentage of viewers than MSNBC, which was down 14 percent in prime time and 15 percent in total day. Okay, but…

MSNBC still nearly doubled CNNLOL in total primetime viewers.

CNN lost viewers during the week of the New Hampshire primary.

Please tell us a list of the "lies" he has told that are any bigger or more egregious than those told by his predecessors?

Unlike Obama, for example, Trump has a national (and international) left-leaning press corps that wake up in the morning with the singular objective of finding anything (true, untrue, real, made up etc) to attack him.  Imagine a world in which Obama had unemployment reduced to record levels across all demographics, healthy GDP and market growth, manufacturing returning, real incomes rising, new and more favorable major trade agreements achieved, no new wars... yet over 90% negative press coverage.

Obama told plenty of major lies.  The press just tended (and tends) to ignore or downplay them. Why?  Obama is on their side of the aisle.  Per Gallup, public trust in government is basically unchanged under Trump, and this is despite 24/7/365 hostility against the president.

And all of the above is wasted on you.

Trump's RCP approval rating is now at its highest since early February of 2017. It is actually higher than his take of the popular vote in '16.

This is pretty amazing given that he has done this despite the Dems and their allies going full retard and the bulk of the MSM press attacking him round-the-clock for years now.

Popular vote in 16?  Any questioning of Trump and his actions and words and policies is just attacks?  Seems like nothing but a crying snowflake, blaming everything and everyone and never taking responsibility for anything he does or says.

Pretty amazing indeed.  What would be more amazing?  If Trump supporters would refer to fellow Americans as 'Americans' and not the cause of everything that they see wrong in this country.

Bullshit

The current president has faced attacks and scrutiny that no other president has had to endure. Not even remotely.

CNN was head cheerleader for the RUSSIA! collusion movement in the press. It was a lie and helped drag our country through years of shit.  They are a lying, piece of shit leftist propaganda outlet and they are paying the price for it.

It’s not impressive really if you think about it, his followers have inculcated themselves around a conservative friendly media that has controlled and manipulated the narrative for their listeners.  They simply reject left wing influence and talking heads. They couldn’t careless about what the left bombards with on MSNBC or CNN.  The lines have been drawn...

It really is impressive.  For all you folks wet yourselves over Fox News, it reaches about 3M-4M folks for the nightly news.

Add up the left-leaning MSM alphabet soup and you are in the 25M-30M range. ABC News alone just recently got 9M viewers in one evening news broadcast.

The problem the left has is that the real, big truths tend to work against them.  RUSSIA! collusion was spouted religiously for literally years.  The walls are closing in... Bombshell!! blah blah blah...

And guess what predictably happens with this crap?

The left and its MSM press claiming truth is pure fucking comedy gold. 🤣

Tv is a small percentage,  folks are influenced by online media as well.  Regardless though, the support is primarily from his supporters (30% of voters are republican and over half of independents lean conservative and he has significant support overall from those demographics regardless of media sources)  It’s really not impressive only for those that want to think it’s more important than what it really it.

Bullshit.

But if it makes you feel better, then that's just super.  Keep repeating the mantra. I hope it works for you for the next 4+ years.

The alphabet soup MSM does not just appear on tv.  They all have major online outlets.  These outlets are routinely found on news aggregation sites like RCP and Drudge addiiton to their sites.  Then there's the nation's leading newspapers and their online content... Care to guess which way they tend to lean ideologically?

Look up the top 10 or 25 or 50 online news content providers.  Now tell the class how many of them lean even remotely right of center (or are even centrist).  🤣

The media source is irrelevant to the population that is right leaning.  The hardliners reject left sources media.  It doesn’t matter what they are saying or to whom b/c they speak primarily to their audience.  So his stat is no big deal.   It aligns with the support I’d expect from an incumbent who has no clear cut opponent less than a year out from the election (Your portrayal of him battling up stream against the current is laughable when he’s cruising with a strong current)

So 46.3% of the American public is hard-right leaning and pays no attention to the MSM at all.

Good to know.

Makes you wonder where the 41.6% number from just 4 months ago came from.

Gracias, amigo.

President Trump made 16,241 false or misleading claims in his first three years

The Fact Checker is keeping a running list of the false or misleading claims Trump says most regularly. Here's what you need to know.
Salvador Rizzo
Reporter for The Fact Checker

January 20. 2020.

Three years after taking the oath of office, President Trump has made more than 16,200 false or misleading claims — a milestone that would have been unthinkable when we first created the Fact Checker’s database that analyzes, categorizes and tracks every suspect statement he has uttered.

We started this project as part of our coverage of the president’s first 100 days, largely because we could not possibly keep up with the pace and volume of the president’s misstatements. We recorded 492 claims — an average of just under five a day — and readers demanded that we keep it going for the rest of Trump’s presidency.

Little did we know what that would mean.

In 2017, Trump made 1,999 false or misleading claims. In 2018, he added 5,689 more, for a total of 7,688. And in 2019, he made 8,155 suspect claims.

37% low to 46% high seems like a big swing then. Apparently some folks didn't get your memo.
