Sweetlarry
Is out for the foreseeable future.......but they will run every bus route stop on Monday morning delivering food to those in the district who need it. Not only that, but they are providing computers for all students who need them as well as six months of free internet through Comcast to ensure every kid will not only be fed, but have the tools to continue to learn and grow! This is what champions do! Very proud of the community to come together to do the right thing for our own! Good on Dr. Grant Rivera for always being proactive!

For Marietta, as far as I know, they had district employees volunteer to box the food and pack it on the busses for distribution tomorrow. They will drive their normal bus route at the normal time and allow families to take whatever food they need. So many aren’t able to travel to a school (or other meeting point) to get necessities. Just really proud that the district was at the forefront of getting ahead of this on all fronts. I hope y’all’s districts are doing the same and helping take care of those who need the help!
Fred
Gwinnett has been pilloried in the past for having digital learning days on snow days instead of just being off but the practice has paid off. We will be digital learning for at least the next two weeks and I bet longer. We too will be running bus routes providing food for the kids in over 60 of our Title I schools - probably 80,000+ students as a guess. A lot of our resources are mobilizing to ensure families get fed though governmental and NGOs.
BUFORDGAWOLVES
Buford has contracted out for meals with Door Dash and GrubHub and concierge services because we will not be one upped by our sister city (Marietta) school or our neighbors in Gwinnett.
