"Venice was found guilty of four of the 16 violations against the school.  The offense that led to the forfeitures stemmed from a student/football player falsifying his address to gain athletic eligibility.  The school received fines for three other violations: another student providing housing to a student/athlete, assistant football coaches providing impermissible benefits in the form of housing to two student/athletes and a school representative recruiting by sending text messages to a student registered at another school, who did not attend Venice High."

All jokes aside maybe someone should look into STA....

@golfaddict1 not trying to take shots at STA but it is suspicious

Kids backing up for 2 years with FBS offers is suspicious lol.   There's a lot involved but I'm not naive to think that the current HC isn't a recruiter type, but he also is a guy who is very well liked and respected by the kids and parents.  It's not really an expensive school, there is much migration in SoFL as it is and with a resume STA has it it any wonder kids transfer or sit for a few years and not transfer and stay before playing?  Academically there are tutors to assist.  I have a friend who tutored kids in the past.  So the clearing house issues are usually all wrapped up for most kids.   Kids also down here migrate to the hot team or team with needs of course  (Flanagan exodus to Miami Central this offseason as an example as they saw the team was descending and left).   I think with the rep of STA for so many years, with AD's at every turn capable of contesting every transfer... why so quiet through the years?   Is it insane what #'s STA has with college offered scholies, of course it is... but what is suspicious really?   Jason Tayor and Sam Madison just volunteered for the club this year.  Not sure but maybe Twan Russell is working with the LB's as well... gee whiz, that's gotta suck huh? :)   Scheduling national games, having a college style run program, good facilities, tutoring to ensure passing clearing house...   it's hard to think STA can't succeed.

But like 2014, if the QB has the keys to a Ferrari and can't drive manual smoothly in rough traffic conditions... it's irrelevant if they have 100 fbs recruits this year.   Casteel will likely face SJB and the saving grace for him is facing STA in practice on D is about as good as he'll see all season.  But it's game decisions that will decide the fate of STA... not the 41 and counting but the QB.  40 are supporting cast.   Casteel is Seinfeld for SJB.  You eliminate his effectiveness, you beat STA with 100 fbs recruits.

As to OP, I respect STA more now having I don't care how many scholarship offers on campus without denying they recruit than i did in 2010 when they had 10 upperclass D1s transfer in over 3 years and were trying to explain it away as FL being a good economy for transfers

As to gator -- what's the difference between STA's offense and "pro-style"?  I would have said sta has been pro-style for years

Recruiting is illegal Pop... and I never slice.  :)

They have a new OC, so I'm sure there is a learning curve with changes.  The O has been very much pro style in the past but not a tricky scheme or fancy.   Hopefully this new OC will experiment with a true fullback sized and athletic kid for more than 3rd and 4th and short from time to time and just not be so predictable with play calling.
