HooverOutlaw
It is easy to see LeBron is not in the same universe as Jordan. I personally would ranked Kobe above LeBron. Jordan's drive for championships was 10x what Lebron's is. Jordan did not have to leave for titles like LeBron did. 2

This dude doesn’t mention the fact that the East was hella trash compared to the West practically the entire time Lebron has been in the league. He was on cruise control until the finals when he had to play a real team and there was nowhere to hide. That’s why he lost 6 finals. Because he was like DLS blowing through NorCal only to be stopped in their tracks by the SoCal power He needed a stacked all star team to win 2 of the 3 and if not for Ray Allen’s miracle shot he would be 2-7. And if not for Draymond Green’s phantom suspension in Game 5 he would have been 1-8. Winning with that Cavs team was still pretty impressive, but not as impressive as Kobe going back to back with guys like Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum. People act like Lebron is doing stuff that hasn’t been done. Not sure if anyone else lost 6 titles though. No doubt Lebron is one of the greatest ever, and will finish top 5 all time, but he ain’t better than Jordan 1
Ararar
Jordan isn’t even mentioned as greatest without Scottie Pippen and Phil Jackson. The Bulls were perennial also rans before those two showed up.Not that MJ wasn’t a incredible athlete and player but all that “drive” would have meant squat if he doesn’t get those two

Magic without Kareem and Riley, isiah Thomas without laimbeer and chuck daly, Lebron without Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.

True so I look at players who immediately turned a franchise around when they stepped on the court to be considered greatest

I like magic as a GOAT, he has a strong argument. I think Jordan was the most ahead of his time so i tend to give him the nod. In the Jordan Era there just weren’t players that could handle him. IMO the Jordan Era was a bit weak as far as level of play/players, but it doesn’t matter. He was amazing. #1 in my book because IMO no one will ever be able to be that much better than the rest of the league again.
954gator
I do think Kobe is the closest to Jordan as far as mentality and drive. Kobe is probably the best scorer of the bunch too. 1
legendsofthefall
Magic is on record saying Jordan is the best ever. Jordan is the only athlete in any of the 4 major professional sports to not lose a finals. 6-0. Would've been 8-0 had he not taken that year and a half off. Maybe 9-0 if they came back for one more run in '98-'99. 6 for 6 and 6 Finals MVP's. No other NBA player has more than 3 Finals MVP's. Records that won't be broken for a LONG time. 1
954gator
The other argument for Jordan regardless of stats and comparing abilities, is how Jordan really became one of the first World sports stars. Shoot Jordan played a large part in making NBA a global sport. The world loved Jordan.

Easily. Jordan changed the game. His game is what led to the next few generations of NBA players being so much better. This is a reason I think sometimes people say Jordan wasn’t that great, but on the contrary Jordan evolved the damn game. Sure his competition’s skill level wasn’t great (I don’t think anyone can argue that), but a large reason for such an increase in skill the next 10 years was bc kids/players studied his game.

Kobe on other hand god rest his soul was slightly overrated and all time prob in the 10-15 range. Lebron on other hand is arguably the best all around player ever but is comfortably in top 3 ever.
