Pandemic

The chart below shows the progress of new cases of Covid-19 in the USA as we open up. Yes, the disease has clearly plateaued. However, there is no clear evidence that it is in real decline. In fact, if this were a stock chart, my interpretation would be that of a basing pattern with a breakout or breakdown to yet be determined. More specifically, it resembles a flat base pattern. Very powerful moves both up and down are often made from a flat base. We have begun to open up the economy. While we put in the time in terms of weeks of the lock down, we have not invested sufficiently in testing and contact tracing. If the image below were a stock chart, it would be on my watch list, and my best guess is that the next big move is to the upside.  To be continued ...

I fear for the 18-25 year olds this weekend

especially in NJ

Today and tomorrow are the biggest day of the year to drink and do drugs, as we speak the Jersey shore houses are filled 15-20 deep of people funneling beer playing pong, doing drugs and trying to get laid

this is absolutely the worst holiday to have coming off a pandemic

MDW could be deadly this year

The above expresses my exact thoughts. A lot of young people who think they are not at risk are going to get a nasty surprise.

I do have a question.  It involves accuracy.  Do you trust the numbers?  Do you trust the antics by Kemp and DeSantis involving reporting?  Personally...I do not.

I believe some states put out accurate data and others do not. In Florida a lady was fired for objecting to the way data was being put out. She has gone on several media outlets to tell her side of the story. She seems credible to me. Kemp's data seems strange in the sense that the deaths reported don't seem to correlate well with the number of new cases. Deaths in most states seem to lag new deaths by some 7 - 10 days. In the USA, the percentage of new deaths as lagged seems to be in the 2 to 2% range of the reported new cases. Georgia is a big outlier in this area as the deaths are below expectations. Now it could be that there is better health care in Georgia or overall better health in Georgia that brings the death statistics down. Or it could be that the data is being massaged. In due course we will find out, I guess.

You also think Bernie the guy who's never crossed paths with a finance or economics book should head the country.

conch...I've always known you weren't the sharpest tack...but I did expect better based on a few of your comments.  I'm not sure you've ever been a CEO (I have) and I'm here to tell you...you don't hafta know everything about everything to run a company or a nation.  You simply hafta bring in the right people to advise you.

You knew that didn't you?

Please say you did....

Free...free...free...free....LOL

It is not about free at all. I have never and will never be a freeloader. It is about rights for working people and small businesses. What the USA currently is is a combination of kleptocracy and oligarchy. It is akin to a typical South American system where the majority of people have no way to express their political aspirations. And, I am not just talking about the current administration. Things have been this way for well over 20 years with each administration doing things worse than its predecessor.

It is because the current political class is bought and paid for by big, corporate interests. If things continue this way, instead of getting a Sander's type revolution you may just see a real revolution with bloodshed and all. Personally, I have decided to get out of here. That the governing class can't see they are presiding over an untenable system, is enough for me to say adios. Three and a half years can't come too soon!

The Bernie nitwits actually think that the country would PROSPER under a scheme where the government controls more and more of our lives, the coal, gas and oil industries are destroyed, everything is taxed to bejeesus...  It is stupidity and self-delusion on an epic scale.

They never step back and look at why his policies are supported by the Birkenstock crowd.  These same folks would be the idiots wondering why, despite their $15/hour at a minimum jobs, they can no longer afford iPhones and Macbooks. But let everyone else pay the student loans they promised to service while going on to get a "degree" in women's studies or social justice.

You constantly boost your fragile ego by denigrating others. Me thinks you have issues. Seek help.

I have issues with stupid people who are more than happy to vote for fukwits like Bernie who look upon my paycheck as theirs.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way to the plane as you leave the greatest country on earth.

I agree that that happy day cannot come too soon.
