Must not be a lot if they scheduled Jesuit. They had a badass team last year. They couldn't schedule one of the big boys?

Yeah Jesuit has been an above average team the last few years but Joes is a national power. Jesuit is losing one of Tampa's best players in area history. RB Malik Davis. Plus they lose their starting senior QB and top wideout. They got some guys in the cupboard but if Joes isn't losing the whole house then I would say Joes in a 31-17 type game

This game is only happening because Memphis University School turned Jesuit down.

The coach at MUS said Jesuit was too good on top of what the already got on the schedule so they needed a breather. So they end up choosing some random garbage team (Seminole Ridge,FL). Had MUS accepted then who knows who Joes would be playing

Well, MUS has MBA coming in the week after and then they travel to Batesville to play S. Panola. Maybe that's why they didn't want to play a tough team before those games. Overall, though, their schedule isn't THAT brutal. I think MUS/Jesuit would've been a decent game.

Is Tampa Jesuit better than Seminole Ridge though?   I mean record wise they are but...

St Joes of Phila has NEVER  played a real OOS power....... Not one... No MC BTW DLS BG STA.....WAS 1-6 against Bosco,...Not impressed..

Agreed, they are tops in their state b/c they recruit the hell out of Philly and eastern NJ.  Two seasons ago Gabe was all over his soapbox how great they were until someone posted that seven of his starters on his Pennsylvania state title team lived in NEW JERSEY!!!  Gabe is a wanna-be on the big stage.  Beating up PA public schools is not that impressive.

Sjp beat cocoa I think in 12 or 13? But I don't think cocoa was that good that season. Cocoa not oos power but a legit program.

A school like SJP should smoke a school like Cocoa (small and public v big and private) even when Cocoa highly ranked but when SJP actually gets out and plays even a legit power, they don't fair so well.  this year was how they should be every year but that's on coaching and recruiting.

Actually one season they played DeMatha when they were pretty good and think they won 14-12 or something like that but nothing more than that.

Cocoa is good for a medium public team. They are not built to beat top national teams. They are the Aledo of Florida.

Cocoa is a good program imo.... motto is play anyone anywhere with who knows how many?

Beat a good BC team in 12, gave a top 10 St Eds team all they can handle in Ohio, upset TCA last year.

Aledo a good comparison.

yes agreed Cocoa is a good public school program but going against SJP and what SJP could be is what I was getting at.

lol, I hoped Cocoa would have won that one.

IMO Dematha used to be an underachiever as well.   It's only in the last 2 maybe 3 years where I actually think they deserve their ranking.   Last two years they've been legit for sure, but I remember them having a bunch of talent in 2013 and getting SMOKED by SJR.   Times are changing and these (non power state) regional programs are generally getting stronger everywhere.  (BG, DM, SJC, Bingham, etc)   This is why we are seeing a lot more non power states beating power states.   They are really starting to accumulate talent from larger ranges and are able to afford top notch coaching staffs.   I could see SJP moving in the same direction.

Solid teams in Socal, Cinci, NJ, Dallas FTW, Houston, and even South Florida are finding themselves as underdogs against these teams they would have blown out 5-10 years ago.   Obviously there are exclusions to this like STA, SJB,MD, etc but in general this is a trend I'm seeing.

I love the way Cocoa will play anyone. I always wanted to see Cocoa and Buford play. I think that would be a great game.

Would be interesting because Buford destroys the run in general, but their offense is ehh.   Cocoa last year was IMO better then they've been in a while because their LOS was actually pretty strong.   They played BG pretty tough for the first half of the game, albeit they had to hit huge plays like they did against Abeline a while back.   Last year I think Cocoa may have been able to pull it out, but in general Buford's style would be rough for Cocoa.   You're right though, it'd be a game I'd love to see.

Well they played American Heritgage pretty close so they were pretty damn good last year. I know, everyone can't be STA with their 85 division 1 players. But Jesuit has academic integrity, unlike STA. They don't take upper classman transfers unless they are from another Jesuit school. Kind of limits their ability to recruit the hell out of the entire country like STA.

Damn 181p this isn't the politics thread lol, don't have to come in with guns blazing haha.   181, I agree they were much better last few years.  You think they'll be able to contend next year?

On second though yeah Jesuit's better, but Seminole Ridge isn't that bad a team.  Their record is usually not good, but they ain't terrible.  They won't be a match for a top team from any state though IMO.

Anyone know if MNW got a game yet?

Posted this right after my initial post.

Probably not with St. Joe's unless they really have a bona fide replacement for Malik Davis and a few other key players.
