Luke Heimlich and the Oregon State baseball team are in the middle of one of the most historic seasons in college baseball history. And as of the last few days, they’re also in the middle of one of the most wild controversies ever to run through college baseball.

On Thursday, OregonLive.com published a piece that shook beaver nation and the whole college baseball world.

“A Benton County sheriff’s sergeant, on a sweep to track down sex offenders who let their registrations lapse, located one at Gill Coliseum, the heart of Oregon State’s bucolic campus. It was Luke Heimlich, the ace left-hander who statistically is the nation’s best pitcher and is among the top prospects in next week’s Major League Baseball draft.”

The news was broken that Heimlich, 16 at the time, pleaded guilty to having sexual contact with his 6 year old cousin.

Just like that, a couple things changed; the vegas odds on who will win the College World Series, and the baseball career of Oregon State’s ace Luke Heimlich. In 2017, the kid has put up nothing short of video game numbers. Check this line.

118 IP, 11-1, 0.76 ERA, .172 BAA, 128 K, 22 BB

He might be putting up Video game numbers.

But he's about to get some football scores added on to his probable jail time....

I thought they did arrest people that failed to register or renew their registration as sex offenders. It's like up to a ten year penalty for failing to do so.

He really could go to jail and lose as much as 10 yrs of his life for not registering.

No he won't - he was charged with a misdemeanor over this and the charge was dropped a month ago.

They'll will the Natty without him. Their 1, 3, and 4 are dominant. Lineup up and down gets on base at will. Electric bullpen. Tons of intangibles. 54-4 speaks for itself. Best record entering NCAA World Series since Texas in 1982

Yeah, Oregon St has had a sick year so far....one for the record books, BUT

LSU is one win tonight or tomorrow away from joining Oregon St at the College World Series......in Omaha (Oregon St, Texas A&M and Louisville) in so far..

But he's not getting in trouble for not registering? Even though he's supposed to?

Yeah you get in trouble for not registering, but not 10 years??

Doesnt sound like he qualifies as a high risk offender (IMO most 290 registrants are) although his offense sounds like it should.
