D1                  Prediction: Iggy 28 St. X 21

St. Ignatius (13-1)

Schedule: 45-0 Normandy, 49-7 Mentor, 49-0 Valley Forge, 28-21 OT Novi CC MI, 30-0 Walsh Jesuit, 49-0 Parma, 34-17 GlenOak, 38-7 Moeller, 31-14 St. X, 34-7 St. Edward, *35-0 Jackson, **31-17 Solon, ***38-31 OT St. Edward, ****24-14 Olentangy Liberty

St. X (9-5)

Schedule: 34-0 St. John Bosco CA, 20-14 OT Colerain, 20-7 Mentor, 34-29 Cathedral IN, 21-14 Moeller, 31-7 Elder, 17-14 La Salle, 19-18 Warren Central IN, 31-14 St. Ignatius, 28-3 St. X KY, *35-14 Fairfield, **29-23 OT Colerain, ***35-28 OT Sycamore, ****29-27 Pickerington Central

This a rematch from week 9. I watched that game. Iggy dominated on the score board, but that game felt similar to the SJB game for X. X had many drives inside the red zone and kept coming away empty handed. X would do a good job on defense, then get burned by on a long pass play. Iggy, with their huge Line, had the push against the X D, but the X D played well against the run. The biggest factor between that game and tonight's is this: Sean Clifford didn't play in that game. He's had a rough season being injured, then reinjured. He looked to be somewhat mobile midseason against Elder, and it showed as X nearly put a running clock on Elder. Then Clifford got reinjured. During the playoffs, he's looked healthy and mobile and he's been a complete game changer, and would easily be my tournament MVP so far. He's practically single handedly won the last 3 games for X. His accuracy is still suspect, but he's very dangerous running the ball. I don't know if Clifford is enough, but I expect a closer game. If X can avoid getting beat by the long passes, I really think X can win this game. However, if my memory serves me correctly, Iggy's Coach Kyle is 12-0 in Championship games. That's a tough mountain to climb. I'll be pulling for X, even knowing full well the amount of crap Colerain fans will have to hear from X  and GCL fans for the next year should they win. Weird rooting for a rival. I can see another Iggy blowout, or a close win either way.

D2                     Prediction: La Salle 28 Perry 10

La Salle (12-2)

Schedule: 38-35 OT Sycamore, 31-0 East Central IN, 6-0 Colerain, 31-18 Christian Brothers TN, 20-13 Winton Woods, 55-14 Moeller, 17-14 St. X, 35-7 St. Charles, 31-13 Football North ON, 24-10 Elder, *23-21 Edgewood, **34-3 Turpin, ***45-14 Miamisburg, ****35-0 Anthony Wayne

Massillon Perry (12-2)

Schedule: 24-14 Butler, 19-14 Canton Central Catholic, 23-15 New Philadelphia, 21-14 Jackson, 21-6 Boardman, 21-14 Hoover, 35-30 Green, 35-0 Lake, 7-6 Canton McKinley, 30-24 GlenOak, *21-7 Lake, **66-28 Franklin Heights, ***17-6 New Albany, ****14-3 Hudson

La Salle had the toughest games in their own region. I don't think they have any trouble with Perry. La Salle wins their 3rd straight D2 championship.

D3                             Prediction: Trotwood 21 Hoban 10

Hoban (13-1)

Schedule: 42-14 Canton McKinley, 10-7 St. Edward, 37-12 Ursuline, 63-14 Royal Imperial Collegiate ON, 24-0 St. Vincent-St. Mary, 41-10 Lake Catholic, 30-10 Padua Franciscan, 21-0 Walsh Jesuit, 41-21 Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, 28-0 Benedictine, *37-0 Howland, **21-7 St. Vincent-St. Mary, ***34-3 New Philadelphia, ****23-14 St. Francis DeSales

Trotwood-Madison (12-2)

Schedule: 10-6 Troy, 38-6 Piqua, 42-0 Middletown, 43-6 Tippecanoe, 44-0 Greenville, 66-6 West Carrollton, 49-6 Fairborn, 50-21 Stebbins, 49-14 Xenia, 17-6 Wayne, *41-7 Wapakoneta, **47-10 New Richmond, ***34-27 St. Mary's Memorial, ****36-0 Toledo Central Catholic

Hoban was the favorite coming into the season, and they played up to their hype. They are tough on defense, and have one of the best RB's in the state in Todd Sibley. Trotwood is similar in that they are lights out on defense and also have one of the best RB's in the state in Hargrove.....neither has bad losses. (Troy was a very solid D2 team whom only lost twice in close games to Miamisburg....whcih makes La Salle destruction of Miamisburg pretty impressive.).........Hoban completely stifled DeSales running game in the 2nd half last week and DeSales didn't have much of a passing game to go to. Trotwood has probably the most impressive win in Ohio with their complete destruction of TCC last week. The slight majority favored TCC last week and thought of TCC as a top 10 team, but they didn't even have a chance against Trotwood. Trotwood's D completely dominated. Trotwood had lost 3-4 straight to TCC and I guess they just had enough.......This week, Hoban is mostly a running team and Trotwood is very good against the run. I don't see Hoban doing much on the ground. On the flipside Hoban is also very good against the run. Neither team is very good at passing the ball, but Trotwood has far more options on offense IMO.

SW Ohio can win 5 of the 7 championships.  Alter is out in Div IV and St. X will lose in Div I.

All the others (LaSalle, Trotwood, Coldwater, Marion Local, Minster) have a good shot to win the title.

White seems to be their most explosive player going both ways.

Expect some big plays from him to win this one.

Its a weird year in Ohio D1...

Iggy D1 pretty good

Most experts in Northern Ohio said they won  state 2 weeks ago when they beat St Edward 38-31 in OT.

Ed's had the edge 390-260 yards and 2 TO's that lead to 10 points,

then Eds QB breaks his leg going i for the go ahead TD with minutes left.

They would be going for a 3 peat this weekend but some here look at scores at don't watch the games or are haters  lol
