We just beat Centennial...so we end up 2-2 in pool play.

Need to bear down and Hawg Up for the bracket rounds.

31-14 over Centennial

Strange start against what would appear to be lesser competition than we played at the Kirby Smart 7on.

Playing down to our comp or trying out different combinations of players maybe.

Or like Woodchopper said, just took a while to wake up.

Didn't CC just win the UGA 7/7?

Getting in some serious work before Hoover.

Won the UGA 7 on 7 yesterday afternoon...drove from Athens to Atlanta last night...lined up for their first game at the Corky 7 on 7 this morning at 9:30 am.  A little too much...if you ask me.

We just won our first round in bracket play.  2nd round is coming up against Brookwood/Cherokee winner.

No dumbass.

Because it is between two teams that are not expected to be amongst the best in GA this year.

I clearly stated that in the previous post.

I expected to see Cartersville in the final after all the hype on that qb and his skill guys.

They did take Archer to 2OT's before dropping out on the same round as Colquitt though.

Anyway, I agree... seemed like a surprise championship match-up to me as neither of those schools got much hype in the last couple of seasons.

Rush has always said that 7 on 7 success does not translate over to success for the season.  BUT...it helps him...his staff...and his skill players in timing and route running   I like what we do in participating in the 7 on 7 comps...BUT...I'll go on record...I don't like playing comps back to back with no rest.

On to the OTAs and the Hoover 7 on 7.

What we do this summer will pay dividends in the fall and winter.  Especially with our nutrition and S&C programs.  We may be young...but I believe we'll have some underclassmen step up when the lights go on.

Central Gwinnett did turn pass happy, though.  Always liked their talent pool, it just sucks they keep losing kids to Grayson and South. If they'd keep everyone at home they'd be better than what they've shown.

That one kid they had at QB in '15 could sling it. When they learn to play defense, they will start competing for championships.

As for SportsNut he has apparently has a major spur up his ass when it comes to Colquitt. Its frightening almost.

Central has had some high spots recently but I don't think they have a complete team or depth to hang when it gets tough.  Just my $0.02 and your mileage will vary.

I like Colquitt. You just don't like me. Remember, I can go back to Hughes with Colquitt. Back to the other era when they were good. This latest swing, which only started in 2009, has been nice. Good run for the program but some of it's fans, well.....kind of need checking sometimes. They must be reminded of the time after Hughes and before the current HC. When life was not so good.

We had some pretty flashy moments running the "Straight T Alignment" version of the Full House Backfield with Funderburk as our OC under Coach Hughes.

And then we went into the fog...

Now, to the great chagrin of many, we have emerged from the fog as warriors... Great warriors wearing Black and Old Gold that strikes fear into the competition like few other color combinations can.

Just the mere sight of the Packer's logo/mascot sends the weak running and causes pause in the fearless as their knees weaken and begin to tremble...

Sorry about posting that logo. I should have given more warning first so the faint of heart could have had time to exit the thread before coming across it. I got just a tad carried away. My apologies.

Neat tidbit about Coach Funderburk...

While he is older than myself, he and I shared the same first youth football coach. Ricky Reynolds. Great guy that has impacted a lot of youth in Colquitt County. He, his brother Dale Reynolds and Vance "Rawhide" Murphy was one heck of a group of youth coaches. I, for one, will love those guys forever. Playing for teams that carried the name of their primary sponsor company, Like C & S Bank, The VFW, Dixon's Grocery etc., and being coached by men that seemed larger than life themselves...

Dale played a big part while I was in youth sports. I'll never forget his disappointment he had when I quit playing baseball. He thought I was one of the more talented players he had seen come through Moultrie.

All great dudes you mentioned!
