NJSportsfan10
Been a lot of discussion on the board lately about how NJ is down and will won’t produce a top national team for the Foreseeable future. Obviously since 2011 no team is been on the level that Bosco was during their peak. However, I think those great teams make it hard to realize that their have been some very good teams in the years that followed. I think the top 5 are 1. 2014 SPP: Wimbush and Fitzpatrick lead IMO easily the best team since 2011 DBP. Lost only to IMG in Florida with some Controversial calls. Still this team finished inside the top 25 teams in America that year. 2. 2015 DBP: a very complete team that was powered behind the best Oline in program history. Lost to SJR in the season opener, a loss that would be avenged in the state final. Lost at Bishop Gorman a unanimous top three team that year. Lost to PC which needed Malik Bakker fumbling on the 1 yard line, Devito being knocked out, a phantom PI call and a Hail Mary in order to win. IMO this is the second best team since 2011. 3. 2018 SJR: A team that was also very complete. Team had size, speed and athleticism. Arguably the best Dline since 2011 with Cross, Vilbert and Vanover. Lost in the season opener against American Heritage in Florida Without their HC, also lost to BC in the regular season, a loss avenged in the state final. 4. 2013 SJR: this team started the year off with a Bang blowing the doors off Dematha and proceeded to run through its schedule until... they inexplicably lost at home to DBP on thanksgiving. Spencer Aukamp, Sherman Alston and Mark Fassati lead the team to the group 3 title. A struggled comparing this team to the 2018 SJR but have 2018 the edge for playing in group 4. 5: 2017 Bergen Catholic: gotta give a lot of props to this team for traveling out to California to play one of the best high school teams I’ve ever seen in Mater Dei that year. This Bergen Catholic team was the BNU team to Since 2011 to go undefeated Against league opponents. The loss against Arch Bishop Wood derailed what could have been a top 25 finish. just missed 2013 and 2016 Paramus Catholic. Both very good teams that won state titles, however in head to head matchups I’d give the nod to the teams listed above. I think it’s easy to forget that NJs top teams are still very good and can compete with almost everyone. If you judge by the standard of the Bosco Dynasty you’ll always be disappointed.

I might say that the 2002, 03,06,07,08,09 and 2011 had better OLINE..I saw that 2015 oOLINE up close and they were good, but others, imo were better... Maietti multiple year starter at Center for Rutgers and current Missouri starting center holding down the middle. Tyler Friday who will start for Ohio State this year on the Dline at the other guard and Matt Hennessy who's currently the Atlanta Falcons backup center at Right Tackle and yeah thats the Best Oline Group in DBP history.
