Prediction: California won't have high school football in 2021, either.

The numbers speak for themselves. From the day the stay-at-home order was implemented in L.A. to five weeks later, cases increased more than four-fold. It represents the greatest surge-by far- in the entirety of the pandemic in the state. Times with fewer restrictions, like, say, in August, never saw spikes like what we've seen over the last month+ with a stay-at-home order in place.

This thread was about California and you stated, in general, that isolation does not work to stop the spread the spread of a virus.

You are pulling stuff straight out of your ass crack.

Even ignorant peasants in biblical times understood quarantines. It's embarrassing that you don't.

Why are you so desperate to twist and distort my words?

The thread is about California's particular set of restrictions, which have been far more draconian than most anywhere else.

No. I make no claims about isolation and viruses in general.  I stated that California's restrictions didn't stop the spread of SARS-CoV-2 in California. And that is patently obvious, simply by looking at the data. I've provided links to this data earlier in the thread. Both data for the state a whole, throughout the pandemic. And also for L.A. County with this most recent lockdown. The lockdowns didn't stop the spread of SARS-CoV-2 in the USA, or California. The most recent lockdown in L.A. County has actually coincided with a tremendous increase in cases.

You are perpetuating a lie that isolation and lock downs don't stop viruses from spreading.

Either way, closing down schools and businesses and ordering people into isolation DID NOT PREVENT THE VIRUS FROM SPREADING.

As of last week, the state that is the subject of this thread is near the bottom 10 in infection rates per 100,000.

The question should be why have you been so desperate to lie and spread falsehoods?

As of reporting right now, CA has had 61,538 cases per million residents. The fact that states like Florida and Texas have had a higher case rate becomes almost completely insignificant when you realize those states have 63,574 and 62,737 respectively. California is 32nd in this category, Florida and Texas are 27th and 28th. Yippee. Again, that would be all fine and dandy had there not been a profound, dramatic difference in the degree of decimation created in the restrictions chosen by government officials. And even this stat is trending badly for CA, which is why you keep trying to bring up stats from many days ago...

All three states mentioned could be said to have had a mice problem in their homes. California ended up with a couple of fewer mice. Edge to California. Until it's pointed out that California took a wrecking ball to the house, while Texas and Florida left the house standing.

So what you claimed earlier was untrue and now you're just using some stupid analogy to try to save face.

Thanks.

Nope. Nothing I've said here is untrue. California's unprecedented, uniquely draconian, uniquely devastating restrictions has produced...a miniscule edge in stats. And that miniscule edge is rapidly evaporating.

You said it did nothing to stop the spread of the virus....and now you're saying that it did have an affect.

But nothing that you said is untrue?

It didn't stop the spread. That couldn't be more obvious. "Stopping the spread" and "had no effect" are not the same thing. I've acknowledged that some of the restrictions produce a modest slowing of the spread...while being utterly destructive in every other way.

So isolation and lock downs don't stop the spread, then that's not what you said, then it was, then it did have an affect, then nothing you said was untrue, then it didn't stop the spread again.

The spread was never stopped in California. They slowed/suppressed the spread somewhat, for a while. Now, the dam has broken, and the spread is not even being slowed.
