What makes Calallen a mediocre team?

They were a 4A Region 4 school in Corpus Christi.

I think I saw that they were like 2-10 in state semifinal games all-time. That makes sense. Beat up on scrubs in Region 4 and then lose almost every time against Region 3.

The two times they won they, of course, lost in the state championship.

Touche’

You are right 😌

They are absolutely terrible.

Which may mean, La Marque may not have been that much better.

For this, I Thank you

In no particular order, I would say

DBP 09-11

BG 14-16

STA 08-10

St Xavier (OH) 05-07

Lakeland 04-06

MD 17-19

Allen 13-15

SJB 18-20 (pending seasons on how this seasons ends)

Haow many of those teams won TWO MNC during those three years or had SIX Under Armour All Americans...or won their SIX or more OOS games by an average score of 31-10..

Those La Marque teams come from a different era. They were predominately about defense.

Also, this was before the playoffs were so watered down in the first few rounds. You had to actually be good to get in. No cupcakes.

You weren't gonna see a lot of 81 - 7 type  of scores back then like you do now.

Sorry if that disappoints some people.

STA and BG both can lay claim to 2 MNC’s during their run. As for all American #s I don’t know I would guess they each had a handful.

MD won 2 MNC’s. JT Daniels, Bryce young, Bru McCoy, Amon Ra st brown, Tommy Brown, Chris Murray, Solo tuialapupu, Elias ricks, DGW, Jaylin Davies, Myles Murao etc were all Army/Under armour all Americans. I’m sure there’s more that I missed those 11 were just off the top of my head.

West Orange Stark was scary good back then almost every year.

Almost took down an all time great Houston Yates football team in their 80 - 90s heyday. They're another school that's only half of what they used to be, but unlike La Marque, they're still pretty good.

That Calallen team that one year was no joke either.

Converse Judson is the other possible Texas team of the 90s, but I don't think they ever did a three peat.
